Pamela is a daughter of Almeda's brother, Darald Spencer, and Almeda hadn't seen her for 38 years. So it was a great reunion for them and Almeda really enjoyed their stay here. Lane and Geraldine Liston went to Cedar City for a dentist appointment then on to Hurricane to stay with Jenifer and Tyler McLemore for a couple of days. They were the baby sitters while Tyler and Jenifer attended the wedding ceremony for Devyn and Leesa McLemore in the St. George Temple on Friday, August 12, 2011. Congratulations to the newlyweds! Congratulations are in order also to Ann Haws and Frank Alleman who were married on Saturday, August 6, 2011 in St. George. Ann's brother, Bishop Quinn Griffin of the Escalante Second Ward, performed the ceremony. Before the ceremony began Ann introduced Quinn as her brother and Quinn's reply was, "Yes, I am Ann's sister." "This brought laughter from the crowd and some embarrassment for the bishop!" said another of his sisters, Marlene Stowe. "And" she said, "He did the same thing at my wedding luncheon 41 years ago!" Knowing Quinn I think this may have been an icebreaker! Anyway the follow- ing family members who were in attendance were: Marilee Miller and son Justin, Mesa, Arizona; DeLane Griffin, Stanley and Marlene Stowe, Doneen Griffin, Ben and Renee Porter all of Escalante; Jim and Shelly Olsen, Provo; Brian and Cristy Stowe and family, Panguitch; Joy Carter, St. George; Jason and Karen Griffin, Cedar City; Ann's three married children and families; Frank's three married children and families, California. The newly married couple will live in Kanab and we wish them all the very best. Congratulations to Jason Hughes who just recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas. Jason graduated from Escalante High School in 2006. He is a son of Greg and Sabrina Hughes, Escalante. He received an associate degree last year from Southern Utah University in Cedar City and is curently training in a pararescue program at Lackland. Our youth make us proud! Robert Haws went to St. George for a visit with his heart doctor. His mother, Marlene, tagged along. She was able to eat lunch at Chuck-a-rama with her grandson, Brandon Haws, while he was on break and while Robert was having a stress test. Then Robert and I went back to Chucka-rama. My second time but I only ate ONCE! Robert's tests all came back showing that his heart, etc. was doing real well. Sheldon Steed recently had open heart surgery. He stayed in St. George with his son Duncan and family for a while but is well enough to be home for a few days now. We wish him well and a speedy recovery. Melvin and Judy Brooks went to Colorado for the funeral of their brother-inlaw. Our sincere condolences to Launi Barlow and her family at the passing of their husband, father and grandfather, Al Barlow. This was another death that was quite unexpected. Al has been very active in City Council, Planning and Zoning, Lion's Club, Sons of the Pioneers, etc. so he will certainly be missed. 3 8 6 F 9 - 6 1 7 .5 . 6 3 . . Lately we don't even get one funeral over with until we have another one pending! That brings lots of people home that we haven't seen in a long time, but it would be nice if it could be under happier circumstances! I saw a lot of people in the crowd at the funeral for Calvin Schow, but didn't get to visit with many of them, so I'll just mention the ones I remember. Three of the Reynolds boys and their wives were here: Jim and Effie Reynolds, Salina; Tom and Ann Reynolds, Panguitch and Glade and Darlene Reynolds, Richfield. Connie and Alfred Jepsen were here from Cedar City and most of their family was here. Their son Conrad has been living in boulder for the past few months. He was here as were Shawna (Jepsen) and Ryan Bullock, Cedar City and Shawna's son Lang Faye of Provo. Geraldine (Jepsen) Childs, Lehi, and part of her family came and we don't get to see Geraldine very often. So it was good just to get to see her. Deloy Spencer, Salt Lake; Craig Twitchell and his sister Deanne Gillies, both of Panguitch, were also in the crowd. Beth (Schow) Williams and her daughter, Jessica, were here for the funeral and to visit Lee and Kathleen Williams. Beth and Dennis have a son on a mission in the Toronto, Canada mission. He will be corning home in December. Lynn and Kathy Schow came from Malad, Idaho and Susie Thurston from Aurora. Lynn and Susie are siblings of Lois Spencer. Carrie Griffin had daughter LaNell Cottam and her daughter, Audra, from Cedar City. LaNell and Debra Cronin went to Idaho Falls recently to visit their sister, Rhonda Mitchell. LaNell's daughter, Jaimie accompanied them. While they were there Rhonda took them to Yellowstone National Park and they said they "Had a ball!" Got to see a grizzly bear and all that fun stuff that goes with visiting that particular park. Visiting at the home of Danny and Lois Spencer were cousins Alice Day, Salt Lake City and Clella Smith, Sandy. Alice and Clella had attended a Heaps Reunion in Torrey before coming on over here. The Danny Spencer family numbers grew again last week with the birth of another great grandson. Grandson of Theron and Cris Jensen, Mesquite; son of Marty and Matt Simmons, Kaysville. Jordon Cottam went to Salt Lake City to pick up her sister, Lacee Leach, who was flying in from North Carolina where she has been attending Duke University. They were going to visit family and friends in Salt Lake for a couple of days before coming back to Panguitch for the wedding and reception of their brother, Brooks Leach and Tayler Tebbs.
