A janitor commented on a staff member's "Coach" purse. "That's beautiful," she said. "What's that?" the other woman asked. "Your Coach purse. It's beautiful. I've always wanted one of those." "Really?" "Yes, but I've just never been able to afford it." And then I heard this staff member say, "Do you want it?" "Oh no," said the janitor. "I was simply complimenting you on your purse. I didn't say that to get it." "I know that, but do you want it?" "Oh no, I couldn't." "It's yours," this staff member said as she proceeded to dump out her Coach purse contents into one of those kind of bags you get free at a conference. And then I witnessed this action and its effect on the janitor. "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh," she whispered into her hands which were cupped around her mouth as she sobbed profusely and ran down the hall. When the staff member found the janitor, she was shaking and crying and still repeating, "Oh my gosh..." question would count to"Here you go," she said ward our grade. For three days he found nothing amiss. When the dog woke up the neighborhood a fourth night at 3 a.m. with frantic barking Larry finally snuck around the house through the alley only to discover our quiet neighbor, the last man you'd suspect of wrongdoing, throwing pebbles over the fence at the dog. My husband demanded to know what he was doing. "My mother-in-law is visiting," the embarrassed neighbor explained. "If she gets woken up in the middle of the night one more time she says she'll leave. Golf Ransom Marvin found the following ransom note slipped under his front door: "Bring $50,000 to the 17th hole of your country club tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. if you ever want to see your wife alive again." But it was well after one o'clock by the time he arrived at the designated meeting spot. A masked man stepped from behind a bush and demanded, "You're three hours late. What took you so long?" "Give me a break!" said Marvin, pointing to his scorecard. "I'm a 27 handicap." 99 .~ vy Royals Food Town. Presents7'. Barking Dog Parents can be very upset when their children don't get into the college of their choice. As an admissions counselor for a state university, I took a call from an irate mother who was demanding to know why her daughter had been turned down. Avoiding any mention of the transcript full of D's, I explained that her daughter just wasn't as "competitive" as the admitted class. "Why doesn't she try anther school for a year and then transfer?" I suggested. "Another school!" exclaimed the Mother. "Have you seen her grades?" I C! FRIENDLY SERVICE Summer Summ isHere but Fall allergies are just around the corner.
