April 19th was a big night for boy scouts in Unit 681, sponsored by the Panguitch 3rd Ward. The annual Cub Scout Blue and Gold Awards Banquet was combined with a Boy Scout Court of Honor in which in which three of Panguitch's finest were awarded the Eagle Rank. Following a great dinner prepared by Bruce Dalton and his crew, the ceremony began. Chance Campbell, 15, is a son of Scott & Kimberly Campbell. Chance's Eagle Project involved constructing a drinking fountain at the outdoor pavilion near the L.D.S. Stake Center. Chance is also a top student at Panguitch High School. In addition, Chance also received the bronze palm for earning an additional 5 merit badges beyond the 21 required for the Eagle Rank. Troy Huntington, 15, is a son of Barry Huntington and Rebecca Huntington. Troy's Eagle Project helped the town of Hatch by installing street signs around town. He is a very conscientious guy and a great student at Panguitch High. Tyce Barney, 14, is a son of Clint & Melissa Barney. His Eagle Project was important in improving landscaping at the Panguitch Post Office. Tyce is a valuable asset to the Panguitch High School's basketball program and is a friend to everyone. Chance, Troy, & Tyce were each awarded the Eagle badge by their father, followed by a big hug from their mother. Grandparents, other relatives and friends were in attendance to witness the event. Parents, grandparents, other family members and friends are invaluable in helping each young man to attain the Eagle Rank. All three of the new Eagles have future plans to serve as LDS Missionaries and to gain good educations. They each are good examples to their friends, associates and family members by honoring and living the Scout Oath and Law. Most cub scouts in the ward received various awards. In addition, eight other boy scouts earned rank advancements. Eleven of the boys were awarded 43 merit badges. Samuel Vasquez was also awarded both a Bronze Palm and a Gold Palm for earning an additional 10 merit badges beyond those required for his Eagle Rank. Bishop Rob Veater also recognized Drew Fischer and Uriel Zubia with the On My Honor Award. Unit 681 is lead by some great scout leaders such as Scott Campbell, Royce Pollock, and Alberto Vasquez. Michelle Crofts is Cubmaster and is assisted by dedicated Den Leaders Lynn Armstrong, Jessica & David Tebbs, and Nanette Matthew. Curtis Barney is the Ward Scouting Coordinator. All registered boy scouts in Unit 681 are urged to join in the planned activities each week.
