A good piece of chocolate has about 200 calories. As I enjoy 2 servings per night, and a few more on weekends, I consume about 3,500 calories of chocolate in a week, which equals one pound of weight per week. Therefore, in the last 3-1/2 years, I have had chocolate caloric intake of about 180 pounds, and I only weigh 165 pounds. So ... without chocolate, I would have wasted away to nothing about 3 months ago! I owe my life to chocolate! Great Cheese A customer in the Italian restaurant was so pleased with his meal that he asked to speak to the chef. The owner proudly led him into the kitchen and introduced him to the chef. "Your veal parmigiana was superb," the customer said. "I just spent a month in Italy, and yours is better than any I ever had over there." "Naturally," the chef said. "Over there, they use domestic cheese. Ours is imported!" A Trip to the Park A police car pulls up in front of Grandma Bessie's house, and Grandpa Morris gets out. The polite policeman explained that this elderly gentleman said that he was lost in the park ... and couldn't find his way home. "Oh Morris," said Grandma, "You've been going to that park for over 30 years! So how could you get lost?" Leaning close to Grandma, so that the policeman couldn't hear. Morris whispered, "I wasn't lost ... I was just too tired to walk home." It Makes Sense...B y Veda Hale Coffee Bill and Doug went into a diner that looked as though it had seen better days. As they slid in a booth, Bill wiped some crumbs from the seat. Then he took a napkin and wiped some moisture from the table. The waitress came over and asked if they wanted some menus. "No thanks," said Doug. "I'll just have a cup of black coffee." "I'll have black coffee too," Bill said. "And please make sure the cup is clean." The waitress shot him a nasty look. She turned and marched off into the kitchen. Two minutes later, she was back. "Two cups of black coffee," she announced. "Which one of you wanted the clean cup?" Hot Fudge? I went into Dairy Queen the other day and asked for a hot fudge sundae with extra hot fudge. The clerk behind the counter replied, "Sorry. I was considering helping with the genealogy inputting project the Mormon Church has, where they ask many of us to post information from Church registries, censuses, and such. It is a worthy project and if millions of us help, it could be accomplished. I would like the feeling of having helped. This week I was also thinking of one of my ambitious grandchildren, who is out of work, and saw an ad in my email box that for some reason caught my eye. I don't look at these things often, but this one didn't offer fantastic money and it was for making money posting links onto the internet. And it had what looked like a real article by a real reporter from a looked-tobe real Consumer Report. What they said you did for the money reminded me of the genealogy project of "posting links". Of course, that one never offered anyone any money to do it. Still, I thought for a minute, "Maybe other big projects need to be done and someone would actually pay to get it done.". Yes, I'm still susceptible for pie-in-thesky stuff. Dang! But what is now in me is a strong suspicious streak that makes me check and recheck. Good old google! I soon found it was another clever scam. I did the checking before I opened any links in the email ad. The details are in the small print and in certain hints that only an expert can see. Apparently there are those out there really watching for this kind of thing. The site I found exposing the above scam was a blog. There are people who do research, post it and Google finds it when a certain question is asked. The person making the blog makes a bit of money by allowing legitimate companies to advertise on their blog. For every time someone uses the link to the company from this site, the person makes small amount. It takes work and smarts to make this thing work. One has to write a good, readable, researched piece on a certain subject that is likely to be something others will want to know about. Then wait patiently for a small reward, probably not worth it for most busy people. But for the so-inclined person, it could work. Still, one has to become wise when looking at anything on net. Whatever is written will carry the slant and opinions of the author. Weigh it against your own inner guidance. One such site I am familiar with, because someone in family is actually taking the time to research topics and posting, is called Hubspot. She isn't making much money, (very little in fact) but she is herself becoming expert in certain areas in which she is interested (like children's speech problems, clean water and certain health issues.) Maybe sometime she will come up with some topic that will hit a nerve and many, many people will visit her blog for a possible answer. Some of those people will notice some ad on the side of her article, click there and that company will give her some money, the money coming through the HubSpot site hosting her article. Yes, the folks managing the HubSpot site will also make a little. They will be benefiting from the hard work of thousands of people. If they stay honest, numbers add up and they have a good thing going, especially for themselves, but could be for others, too. Good ideas deserve to make some money.
