Show May 2010 Pagej ,40 4114, I love when I hear that a 90-year-old completed their high school diploma or college degree, don't you? It's never too late to educate. That goes with fulfilling a dream or passion. If you don't do it now, when will you? So when a professor friend of mine --along with a friend who attends the same university the professor works at-- suggested I apply to a doctorate program there I jumped at the chance. Why not, right? Well, guess what? I got accepted and now I'm the oldest student, only by age, not attitude, in my class. Why go back to school now? I can't think of a reason not to. What will I do with a doctorate in education? I have no idea. But, the sky's the limit. Will I become a professor, researcher, leader in higher education? Maybe all three. Perhaps something different all together. Minister, Dr. Dale E. Don't let mind viruses, negative things you tell yourself, stop you from doing what you love or from reaching your dreams and goals. I mean, seriously, a mind virus can hold you back from becoming who you were born to be and what you were born to do. But remember, the world so needs you and your talents! Like me, don't let age ever stop you from reaching your dreams and goals. Instead, let attitude be what takes you there instead. Albert Einstein said, "Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death." Even if you are the oldest in your class. renewable. No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born." Isn't that cool? So, what untapped possibilities lie within you? When I was a kid I wanted to be a nurse. That never happened. Instead one of my sister's became one. Needles and blood? Don't think so. Yet, how grateful I am for my sister and all the others in the medical field who do what they do so well. That goes for every other profession out there. "For example," he said, "roses must be planted in the sun, but fuchsias thrive in the shade." After the service, a woman, her face beaming, approached him. "Your sermon did me so much good," she said. Before he had time to gloat too much, she added, "I always wondered what was wrong with my fuchsias." GARAGE DOORS DEPT OF TRANSPORTATION At a dinner party to introduce the new Administrator of the Maryland State Highway, the new boss went on and on extolling his own virtues: the forward-thinking, the modernization he'd put in place, the down-sizing, equipment upgrades, roadway improvements he had both instituted and planned for the future while he was with the Pennsylvania Dept of Transportation. Finally, after what seemed like hours, he opened the floor for questions. "Sir," said a voice from the back of the room, "perhaps you'd also tell us why Pennsylvania didn't want you anymore." Some call this the silver bullet of back pain!!! Also, when you have pain, spray Windex or other ammonia containing agent on the area and gently rub in to get temporary relief. The ammonia gets the oxygen to the cells quickly... ( My Great Big Fat Greek Wedding taught me this ...it works on many things including insect bites, skin rashes and pimples, muscle aches, bruses...I have practically bathed in since my hysterectomy! ! ! Had friend recently tell me of some one who had a very serious spider bit and when she put the Windex on it, that stopped the infection completely! ! !) Also, having a white bar of soap, i.e. Dove, etc, even motel soap, next to the muscles helps them to release and relax. ( I sleep on some oval ones in the middle of my lower back each night and have no pain there anymore!) I know it is hard to embrace the pain, but I have been seeking the gifts of pain, and usually only upon reflection find some...not usually at the time, but I work on praising the Lord in All things."
