The expected payment rate is approximately $0.32 per cwt. To be eligible for DELAP, the dairy producer and the dairy operation in which the producer has a share: 'Must have produced milk in the United States and marketed milk commercially at any time from February through July 2009; 'Must have milk production data for those months; 'Must certify to all milk production produced and marketed by the dairy operation during that time. Also, any dairy producer who has an annual average adjusted gross nonfarm income of more than $500,000 for calendar years 2006 through 2008 is not eligible for DELAP. For more information and eligibility requirements on the new DELAP program, please visit your local FSA county office or www.fsa. usda.gov. Through much of this past year, USDA took a number of steps to provide relief to dairy farmers around the country. Some of these steps include: 'USDA reactivated USDA's Dairy Export Incentive Program (DEIP), to help U.S. dairy exporters meet prevailing world prices in addition to encouraging the development of international export markets in areas where U.S. dairy products are not competitive due to subsidized dairy products from other countries. •USDA spent approximately $1 billion in fiscal year 2009 on purchases of dairy products (Dairy Product Price Support Program) and payments to producers (Milk Income Loss Contract (MILC). 'USDA increased the amount paid for dairy products through the Dairy Product Price Support Program (DPPSP). USDA estimates that these increases, which were in place from August 2009 through October 2009, increased dairy farmers' revenue by approximately $243 million. •In March, USDA transferred approximately 200 million pounds of nonfat dry milk to USDA's Food and Nutrition Service, which will not only remove inventory from the market, but also support low-income families struggling to put nutritious food on their tables. RH:SrSIDE•LINES -0 By Mack Oetting The Lady Cats improve to 7-1. The game started with Brianne Bateman singing a wonderful rendition of the our National Anthem. The Bob cats jumped on Escalante early and never looked back. They defeated Escalante 59 to 20. Kalani Norris led the Cats with 20 and Brianne Bateman had 2 - 3 pointers and 12 points. Escalante was led by freshman Lindsey Phillips who shows great promise for the Moquis. Coach Barney says they will only get better, they have 8 players and had to play the JV game, they were in great shape and never gave up. The Lady Cats play Bryce Valley on December 22 at the Valley. Bryce Valley has only one loss against the number one team Piute. This game should test our girls and we will see how good they really are. The team will be off till January 2nd when they will host the #1 rated Piute Thunderbirds. I talked to Sage Roundy a couple of weeks ago at Bryce Valley and she said both the Boys and Girls team are very competitive. The Bobcats played Kanab and in the first half of their game they held their own at 27-28, but the Cowboys ran away with the game in the second half, because they had a bunch of three point shooters that killed us. Against Escalante it was another story, the Cats ran up a 23 to 0 score in the first quarter, a lot of kids got playing time, with the final score 67-30. Eric Frandsen had 3 dunks in the first half and led with 19 points, followed by Brooke Leach with 14. The State Champs (Escalante) graduated 7 seniors last year and two of their players are now playing at Bryce Valley. They have some real tall boys and some very good three point shooters. By the end of the season, Coach Allen will put them into a real competitive team. The Bobcats have an away game against Bryce Valley on January 2, same night as the girls game, poor timing. The Wrestlers will be at Milford on January 6. The team has had a lot of tournament competitions; these are good practices because each competitor gets to wrestler four to six matches in two days. |
