Show NOVEMBER 30,2006 RURAL DEVELOPMENT FUND BOARD APPROVES 2007 GRANT The Rural Development Fund (RDF) Board met Friday, October 20, in Tropic, Utah, and approved grapts totaling $546,532 to assist four rural communities. The Board meets twice a year, during the spring and fall. This meeting marks the first of Fiscal Year 2007 funding. The Board awarded the following for Garfield County: Tropic Town - $175,532 grant for the Heritage Center Building. The project includes the construction of a 7,296 square foot, two-story building to house town offices, conference rooms, museum, library, and a technology center. The Rural Development Fund Board is a program of the Division of Housing and Community Development, a division of the Utah Department of Community and Culture. It assists counties, cities, towns and special districts in Garfield, Kane, Piute and Wayne Counties that are impacted by mineral resource development on federal land through grants for the planning, construction, and maintenance of public facilities. The funds also help community agencies provide public service.
