Show A5 WELCOME BACK • V ija 14:W;744"IST." s :11 411 . g°' ravglibai 146a1W ir ,ap..joommosilmo f .••■•..ms.mdESIOR I extend a warm welcome to each of you as begin this next year at Utah Valley University. Whether this is your first university semester or you are returning for your final year, I want you to know that we stand ready to help you reach your educational goals. Whatever you choose to study, among our 21 certificate programs, 65 Associate's degrees, 66 Bachelor's degrees, or three Master's degrees, you will have the wonderful opportunity to learn from excellent faculty in an engaged learning atmosphere. As you begin a new semester of classes, labs, research and projects, I urge you to commit to habits of diligent study and scholarly exploration. Research has shown that the more students are engaged with campus life, the more likely they are to reach their educational goals. I invite you to get to know your professors, engage in study groups, and attend academically and culturally enriching events. In addition to the robust academic opportunities, UVU offers students a wealth of social activities to meet the needs of the whole individual. I also hope you will support one of UVU's many athletic teams as we begin competition in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) this Fall. One thing you have surely noted is quite a bit of construction. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience of all the construction projects that might make parking and campus navigation a bit confusing at first, but let me assure you, these new buildings will dramatically enhance your university experience at UVU. In April, we will cut the ribbon on the new Student Life and Wellness building. This new addition to our campus will provide much needed space for every aspect of student life: study areas, exercise, and recreation. I want to express my highest confidence in you, and I pledge my best efforts to make your experience this year enjoyable, challenging, and rewarding. Go Wolverines! MATT BOWEAVUVU REVIEW Excitement stirs as the opening date draws near. 66 WELLNESS from A2 out equipment. "This new building is going to be awesome," junior Matt Tomco said. "I've been thinking UVU needed an upgrade on their fitness facilities for a while now, so I'll definitely be there." The center isn't just for students, however. Families are encouraged to come to the Wellness Center as memberships will become available once the building opens. Families and students will also be able to look forward to special events at the Wellness Center such as family night, couples night, cooking for couples, and free cooking demonstrations. Alongside its amenities, the Wellness Center is expected to open more than 100 student job positions this coming year. The center will be open on weekdays from 6 a.m. to midnight and 8 a.m. to 11 on Saturdays, so there will be openings for a variety of hours that will be flexible with student schedules. Students interested in applying should watch for student work position listings around January.
