What are we to do with this brutal dilemma?-Well, unless that rumored "money tree" in Raintree Apartments is a reality, or you are one of those cool kids with Daddy's credit card-you may be looking for a few ways to stretch your dollar. 1. First things first. Food and nourishment is our main priority. Here are a few places you can afford. There's McDonald's Monday where one can get two Big Macs for $2, Taco Tuesday at Del Taco where you can get a meal for $2, and Weiner Wednesday at Wienerschnitzel, where you can get .25 cent hot dogs at the Pleasant Grove location. As for the rest of the week; there's Sonic Burger's happy hour, where one can get 1/2 off all drinks between the hours of 2pm-5pm, (they have great burgers as well). Also Great Harvest Bread sells slices of bread for only .50 cents. Once we've entertained our tummies, we can turn our thoughts towards actual entertainment... 2. There are two "dollar movie" theaters in the valley (Movies 8 in Provo, and University 4 in Orem), and while their regular prices are $1.50, students can get in for a buck with proof of I.D. any night of the week. Tuesday nights are also a bargain nights at both theaters: .75 cents at Moves 8 and only .50 cents at University 4. 3. Take advantage of our last summer nights by hitting the Scera Shell on the weekends for outdoor movies. Upcoming is Spiderman 2, and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Students get in for $3 with I.D. 4. Neighbor to UVSC is Trafalga, where one can S and snack bar may exceed our budget, the ambience is fantastic. 5. Finally, and perhaps our favorite, we have the Nickelcadewhere one pays an admission price of 2.25, and then is welcomed to the wonderful world of nickel arcades. Everything is a nickel. That leaves us 55 nickels to play with for the rest of the evening...it doesn't get much better than that. So there we have it. Five things to do for under five bucks. If you are really rich, maybe you can double up on a couple of these ideas and really make a night of it. Taste of Vermillion Mark Buffington Life Writer I find that the biggest problem students have with starting a new semester is locating suitable places to study. I mean let's be honest, our matchbox sized apartments are packed with roommates watching TV to all hours of the morning, the library is so quiet it is physically disturbing, and the Hall of Flags... well I don't need to comment on what I think of people who pretend to study there. Yet there is hope true believers! A new establishment known as The Vermillion Skies Caf<5 offers not only an ideal place to increase your intellectual prowess, but also grab a quick, cost affordable, bite. Located at 236 N. Download Provo John Garlock Life Writer Some says it is a science. Others argue it is a myth, but all will agree it is danger. Although danger is not its middle name, Provo Podcast has begun to spread its message of spreading music. Provo Podcast is a 30minute weekly radio show released over the internet, focused solely upon the local music happenings. Provo Podcast is produced by three stand-up gentlemen, Matt Wood, Maht Paulos, and UVSC student Joseph Castor. Over the Podcast they are known as Jim, Jimm, and Jeremiah. Each week a new podcast is available for free listening at provopodcast.com. I have listened to all of podcast and have also spoken with Matt Wood about the reasons and flavors behind the podcast. Let us begin with the Pro- vo Podcast mission statement, "Broadcasting from the depths of Geneva's core, to the haughty heights of Squaw Peak...Provo Podcast is setting some totally chill goals to bring you all the etcetera you need, etc." The podcast was created as a means to channel all the electric creativity that runs the local music scene. Matt Wood said, "Provo (slash) Orem has way too much to offer musically. There needed to be a simple way of collectirtg and distributing information. For the minimal amount of work we do, the payoff is huge." The Podcast generally has 3 different musical artist featured with Jim, Jimm, and Jeremiah providing tongue and cheek commentary and discussions between each musical sampling.
