Bassi said, "1 wish I could break the award into pieces and hand it out to all the members of the council. Many accomplishments attributed to me are really the accomplishments of the council." The Achievement of the Year Award recognizes someone who has excelled, despite personal trials. This year's winner is Sara Montgomery who was temporarily paralyzed after an accident and made a documentary film about her experience. Of winning the award Montgomery said, "Winning the award shows that even out of trials good things can happen." Leland Page was recipient of the Wolverine Spirit Award and said, "Many people deserve this award. It is amazing what happens to your college experience when you have spirit for your school."
