Show school board authorized I 1 to incur debt last tuesday the taxpayers of the tintic gintic mining district participated in a special election called tor for the pur pose of giving those qualified to vote chance to say whether or not the usters of school district should have power to incur an in debt edness of about 32 22 in order to keep the schools in operation dur ing trig the remainder of the year the vote was overwhelmingly in favor of the proposition and arid there will be no break in the school work here in tintic gintic the difficulty in which the board members found themselves a month or more ago when their funds were exhausted was not the result of the careless expenditure of school funds but a natural sequel to the tamper ing with the taxation laws by the state legislature to have closed the schools would have meant throwing the pupils back a full year in their work as no credits could have been given for a partial year years s work and it would have also meant the loss of tintic gintic s portion of the state school funds which are distributed accord ing to the school population this money being withheld in the event the schools of any district are not operated for a given number of months the extra tax necessary to take care of pf this indebtedness will not fall heavily upon the tintic gintic people and at any rate the schools must have the support of the general public the vote in the various precincts of the dj strict on tuesday was as follows eureka no 1 74 for 8 against eureka no 2 50 for 6 5 against eureka no 3 34 tor for 5 against mammoth 72 for 4 against silver city 36 for 0 against |
