Show True Aggies will 'Think, Care, Act' A-PLUSI ORIENTATION • FALLZOIO • PAGE 19 New initiative will challenge campus to take responsibility Utah State University students, faculty, staff and alumni are going to be challenged individually and collectively this year. "* • . . Fall 2010 marks the introduction of a USU'S new " initiative "Aggies Think, Care, Act." The program stresses the importance of each member of the USU community's accountability in helping to foster the values of human dignity, equality, respect and safety for each individual student, faculty, staff and alumni. The program encourages Aggies to be responsible for providing the safest environment for all community members. Through interactive presentations, students will be challenged to think about how an individual's words, actions or silence can affect problematic situations. The students will hear about the creation of a caring community, an essential piece of being an Aggie. They will also be directed to resources that willTielp the students act to end incidents of harm or injustice. The program stresses that choices each member of the USU community makes can affect day-to-day behavior as well as impacting the more severe situations that can arise on college campuses. "Bystander intervention is a big part of this program - often people can help but Tor many reasons they don't," Noelle Call, director of Retention and Student Success, said. "Students are educated as to how small actions can make a difference in someone's day or help in more complex situations." New students enrolled in the Connections course will be the first to be introduced to "Aggies Think, Care, Act" through an interactive student-oriented workshop. "Incoming students are eager to become part of the Aggie community" said Call. "The workshop stresses that community membership All students, faculty and community members will have access to program information at Day on the Quad, Greek life orientations, residence hall orientations and fall leadership programs. Students will also get information through Facebook and Aggiemail. Students should look for additional ways to get involved with this program through information posted in the Taggart Student Center, on-campus posters or through the campaign website.
