Show THE DAILY UTAH CHRONICLE Thursday, March 18, 2010 DILUZIO continued from Page 6 doesn't want a lot of attention so she pushes it away." Despite her shyness, DiLuzio has the ability to impress not only fans and judges but also her teammates. "Sometimes I'm really impressed because if she can't work out because of an injury Monday and Tuesday, all she does is cardio and goes in Friday night and gets the highest score," Dania Bijak said. "I'm amazed how good she is, that she doesn't even need to practice." With her gymnastics career drawing to a close, DiLuzio is trying to come to grips with letting go something that has been a huge part of her life. "It's weird that I'm almost done," she said. "I'm kind of getting a little scared like, 'Oh my gosh, what am I going to do? I'm going to be normal, almost. It's weird." DiLuzio, who is majoring in behavioral science and health with minors in psychology and health education, still has a year left of school and plans on staying with the Red Rocks as a student coach. "I think that will be good and will help with my transition out of gymnastics," DiLuzio said. "I love coaching and helping any way I can, so that might work as a transition into the normal world." DiLuzio spent time last summer coaching and said she hasn't ruled out coaching as a possible career choice. Marsden said the coach in DiLuzio is already coming out. "She tends to kind of mother some of the girls," Marsden said. "She recognizes when someone is struggling and takes them aside and has positive words. She is very good at picking out individuals that she can say just the right thing to help them. She is really good at that." Her teammates recognize DiLuzio's ability to help others who might be struggling and attribute it to her fun-loving, easy-going attitude. "Annie is a fun person— she can keep the atmosphere light," Kyndal Robarts said. "Everybody loves Annie. We go to away meets and everyone knows her. She's always happy and always lively, which is nice at the end of the season when we are all dragging." Although DiLuzio said she's thought about coaching, she isn't focusing on her future right now Instead she is trying to take in everything at her last few meets. "I try and think about what 7 I want to do with my life and when I'm done and it started freaking me out," DiLuzio said. "So I'm just going to finish out the season and do what I love, and then focus more on the future. It's scary leaving something that has been a huge part of my life." One thing about the future is clear for DiLuzio: She wants to try new things and find new hobbies to fill her time. "I want to go skiing or snowboarding," DiLuzio said. "I've never been able to because they didn't want me to get hurt, so I want to try that, but I'm going to keep an open mind about what I want to try." pfieldsted@ chronicle.utah.edu .dailyutahchronicle. co T UTAH MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY Presents a Lecture Series r+i E NA TURE Tir — THIN GS 201 TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR DEGREE! with the Graduation Planning System and ASUU Graduation Guarantee! "Fortunately, we've had really good weather over the last few weeks, for the most part," McCracken said. "And it has been very beneficial to us. We've been out on the golf course a bit, and it's looking like the guys are going to come out of this winter a little more prepared than years past.
