Show tintic gintic leasers will resist states effort to collect occupation tax keisers of the tintic gintic district who hive just been called upon upon by the state board of equalization for figures showing their net proceeds or profits during the year 1917 and from whom the state officers are preparing to reach out and tike a three per cent tax are making maling plans to resist the collection by the state of this sum of money the men who alio are operating leases in this district and especially those who mide money last year will most likely get together and raise a fund for the employment of a competent attorney to look after their interests As the result of freak taxation measures passed by our state legislature there has been a loss of revenue throughout the state and the present state adminis tra tion is now going after the mining industry rough shod while the new nen occupation tax which they are trying to put into operation is aimed primarily at the big mining companies it is nevertheless going to levy a heavy tn bute against the leasers who through economy and care ful operations were able to make a little money during the year just past when the national government campalong and asked for a tax on profits certain sums 1000 or 2000 was exempt but th the state officers dont propose se to let anything get away from them the man who made a single thousand dollars on a lease is going to berl ber subject to a tax of 30 if they have their way and they are even trying to tell him that he can charge no more than miners wages for the work which he performed |
