The nike Planning Commission has. recently been asked to consider a new resort facility to be built at the Midway © Hot Pots to be known as the Springs of | St. Moritz. The facility, owned by the Anderson family, was originally. proposed to include a hotel standing 55 feet tall which would house 90 time-share units. There has been some unrest in ~ Midway and surrounding areas concerning this new building and it’s design. In Midway, all resort areas must have a recreational focus and stand no higher ec ita. than 35 feet from natural grade. They have agreed to drop the height of the building. When. asked what the focus would be for this new hotel, the response was that it would be a “passive recreation.” An activity such as hiking would fall into this category. For those who will be paying the construction bills, this means they won’t have to put much of the overall funding towards providing facilities for the guests to use in their recreational activities. At this point, the project is on hold until the proprietors can come to an agreement with the Water Board as to. exactly how much water is needed and how the developer will provide it. There is disagreement on how many units are cen announcements to: first proposal was for 30 ERU? S; Sieh allowed 90 rooms in the hotel. The proposal was altered to include 270 rooms, or 90 ERU’s. The developer contends that they have reduced the number of ‘condominiums and single family homes from their previous proposal and used those ERU’s to increase the number of rooms in the hotel. Once this is cleared up, the Planning Commission is willing re-evaluate the design. The property where they are planning to — build is located on the Eastern border of Wasatch Mountain State Park, the West Side of Pine Canyon, and the north side of Cari Lane.
