What they were really after, however, was a man claiming to be “Martin Reed Baker” of “1261 E. Stratford Ave,” the previous address of the WCR, who was passing forged checks. “Quite a coincidence, don’t you think. The name ‘Baker’ and your old address?!??” they kept saying to David. “Yeah, if I was the dumbest crook around,” he thought silently. Finally after a grilling worthy of a scene from “NYPD Blue,” and scaring Mr. Robbi+ns away, Plotnick and pal left. I believe they were not totally convinced, but after a casual search of the new (and luxurious!) WCR offices turned up nothing they left to search the dumpster before heading back to West Valley City. The whole thing IS quite a coincidence. “Reed” is the name of the landlord of our old office building. “Baker” is the name of the editor. The checks that were being passed were phonies made by someone with computer skills and equipment. Obviously the perpetrator has an interesting sense of humor to implicate us in this manner, Now if we only knew who “Martin” was... Congratulations to Jonny “‘Buttcheck” Atencio and Britta “RedMan”’ Nelson. These two love birds are engaged to be engaged, or something like that. Remember, not till your married. Another couple who should be taking the plunge soon, Marta & the Mystic, just returned from Mexico where they went to “find themselves.” Unfortunately his laptop and satellite up-link failed during our office move so there will be no Alpine Astrology this month. The WCR’s Head Plumber, Johnny Olsen, is ailing. Turns) out he can take care of everyone else’s pipes but not his own. Good luck, JC. Can we have) the Sawz-All if you code? Congratulations to Susan Baker, the editor’s mommy, for recently graduation from college at the rip old age of 61, a mere 38 years after she started. Going to try and make something of yourself now, Sue? If you’d like to relocated to Salt Lake we have an opening for a copy editor. Grand Opening of Katie’s Kickstand is on Monday, 3 June. We used our little time off from our grueling publishing schedule to move our office to luxurious new | ° digs at 1104 E. Ashton Ave, Penthouse Suite 204 in Sugar House, right next to the State|_ Liquor Store, which makes Mr. Peck happy, and the bowling alley, Mr. Bresee’s passion. Our new building is totally flood-proof as it is built entirely on stilts. Stop in for a visit if you’re in the area (2310S.). Det. Brooke Plotnick & his buddy did. The two West Valley City lawmen, complete with badges on their belts and mustaches on their upper lips, came bursting through the door recently. They accosted the editor of the WCR, David Baker, just as he was sitting down with exasperating advertiser Taylor Robbins.
