Julianna Barboza, recalca que de 150 niños uno es diagnosticado con autismo, lo que representa un diagnóstico cada 20 minutos. Los niños tienen dificultad para relacionarse y comunicarse con las demás personas. A través del programa de Easter Seals, y mediante terapias ' nosotros queremos entrar a su mundo. Nosotros hacemos los que los niños quieran hacer, jugar, dibujar. Al hacerlo así, el mismo niño abre los caminos para que nosotros podamos entrar en su mundo y así comenzar la relación con otras personas. Con esta terapia, el niño queda más satisfecho. Julianna nos comenta que atienden edades comprendidas entre los 14 meses y hasta 7 años. Su trabajo consiste en trasladarse a las casas de familias con miembros que sufren de autismo. Ahí habla con los padres acerca de las terapias que debe recibir el niño y, una vez por mes y por un lapso de 3 horas, ofrece toda la información necesaria para que la persona encargada del infante desarrolle todos los días las terapias con los niños. Aumento de Casos Durante los últimos 20 años, Easter Seals ha visto un aumento dramático en el número de niños y adultos con autismo a los que presta servicios. De esta manera, el autismo se convierte en una enfermedad más común que el síndrome de.
