Show emeka boy accidentally shot on saturday last last saturday afternoon while a bunch of boys were playing near the surface working of the blue rock mine a 22 rifle was accidentally dis charged and the bullet penetrated the neck of john diamond the ele ven year old son of mr and mrs jas diamond walter sutherland aged thirteen years is said to have handled the weapon two other boys of similar ages were present the boys had been shooting at squirrels which make their home in the timber piles at the mine and it was while they were grouped er examining a dead quarrel that young sutherland accidentally shot his companion drs laker and gose were hastily summoned to attend the injured boy they removed the bullet which had lodged in the back part of the neck the boy s condition was quite ser lous ious for a few days but he is now thought to be well along toward re covery the accident should be a lesson to parents whose children are permit ted to play with firearms |
