FIRE RESTRICTIONS cont. from page 1 2022. Due to these conditions, a ban on the use of all fireworks and campfires (primitive fire), open burning, welding, grinding, etc. in the restricted areas has been implemented (unless specifically approved). This restriction affects all unincorporated Weber County, Uintah City, and parts of West Haven City (please refer to maps below). These restrictions will remain in effect until conditions improve and are rescinded by the Utah State Forester. Conditions vary greatly throughout Weber County, and it is important that everyone use good judgment when deciding to have a campfire in an approved fire pit. If a campfire gets out of control and creates a wildland fire, the individuals responsible for the fire may be held responsible for the costs associated with fighting the fire. The following acts are prohibited in the designated fire restriction areas: 1. Open fires of any kind, except within established public facilities in approved campgrounds and picnic areas; or, in permanently constructed fire pits at private homes where running water is present. 2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, trailer, or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area that is paved or free from dry vegetation. 3. Discharging or using any fireworks, tracer ammunition, or other pyrotechnic devices including exploding targets. 4. Cutting, welding, or grinding metal in areas of dry vegetation. 5. Operating a motorcycle, chainsaw, ATV, or other small internal combustion engines without an approved and working spark arrestor. Eden 1900 Art Gallery Hosts “Meet the Artist” Presentations Are you looking for inspirNatalie Shupe is also a ing art to express uniqueness in your home? Are you an artist yourself looking to extend your art education or learn new techniques? Do you yearn to learn more about different mediums of art? Are you tired of mass-produced products ordered from Amazon? We have solutions and two rare opportunities for you. Eden 1900 Art Gallery will host summer “Meet the Artist” presentations where you can learn more about two diverse art mediums, Linocut printmaking and Plein Air oil painting. Kristin Carver is a multi-talented artist who specializes in the fine art of printmaking, and whose focus is on relief cuts in linoleum printed on beautiful handmade papers. Printmaking is a lesser known, but old art tradition. Few understand the complexities and varied practices that fall under the Kristin printmaking umbrella. While her Carver fine artwork is on display here at the Eden 1900 Art Gallery, Kristin has agreed to give us a demonstration demystifying the magic of printmaking. Her free demonstration will take place Friday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m., right here in the art gallery. Limited seating is available. Fun for the whole family, come watch and learn! To sign up today and reserve your seat, visit Eden1900.com/Printmaking-Demo. When we say that one of her prints is number six of 25, those who are only familiar with modern printing do not understand that each print is created by hand and varies slightly from the others in the series, making each its own original. Learn how the base art is created, how each special paper is selected for finish and texture, how the ink is applied to the paper, and how the colors are applied one after another to create a finished piece. Artist Kristin Alley Carver was raised in Ogden, Utah by parents who were both medical professionals. Early on, she was intent on a nursing degree, but one art class turned into many leading to her graduation from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s in Fine Art. After struggling to start a family, Kristin believed she had to give up art to pursue motherhood. For a time her artist identity was buried, until a college mentor invited her to be involved in a printmaking project. Creation is now part of her spiritual practice, and her husband and children are her biggest supporters. This fall will mark six years that Kristin Carver and her family have been living in Eden, the area of Ogden Valley where her husband grew up. multi-talented, local artist who specializes in oil paintings. Some of her paintings are on display at the Eden 1900 Art Gallery. Having recently won first place at the Midway Plein Air contest, Liberty artist Natalie Shupe is Natalie more than qualified to demonShupe strate for us the benefits and struggles involved in Plein Air oil painting. She will help us overcome the challenges of changing light, overwhelming information, while explaining her best approaches and recommending equipment to use. Natalie will present this free community Plein Air oil painting demonstration out-of-doors at Eden 1900 Art Gallery on Thursday, August 4, beginning at 10:00 a.m. To sign up today and reserve space (hopefully in the shade), visit Eden1900.com/ Plein-Air-Demo/. We highly recommend bringing your own chair! Natalie Rhees Shupe was born in Ogden, Utah and grew up on a small farm with animals, fruit trees, and room to roam. She hated to come inside to practice piano, so her wise parents substituted piano for art lessons. As a result, she began to paint in oils at eleven years of age. It was at Snow College that she had the opportunity to study with Osrael Allred and Carl Purcell. She finished a BFA at Utah State University in Art Education. When her two-year-old son ate the oil paints off her palette, she put them away and the demands of family took over. Natalie found a creative outlet in quilting and won awards, taught classes, and published designs. The desire to paint returned when her oldest daughter began her art degree at Utah State. It looked so fun that when she heard about a workshop offered by John Poon, Natalie signed up. She has been painting determinedly ever since. More workshops with John Poon, John Hughes, and Russell Case have increased her vision of what paintings can be. She is anxious to learn all she can. Searching for subject matter, hiking, roaming, and exploring, are the special perks of being a landscape painter. In addition to works by Kristin Carver and Natalie Shupe, additional featured works at Eden 1900 Art Gallery by artists David W. Jackson, Jeanie Montgomery, and Jan Carlsen, which are on display.
