Valley Elementary Says Goodbye to Two Esteemed Teachers Lynne Graves - I have such great memories of growing up as a “Valley Bulldog,” from kindergarten through my junior high years. My dad, Lou Buhrley, drove a school bus in the Valley for over thirty years, and I saw from a young age that working with the amazing Valley teachers and staff a great way to serve my Valley Elementary was community. I can’t imagine teacher Lynne a better group of people to Graves retires. be associated with than my co-workers during the past 25 years. They truly became my best friends. I have taught about 600 students, and I have such good memories of my fourth-grade students. I will miss the excitement each new class brought. These kids became mine over the course of each year. It has been fun to see them as they grow older. They have become moms and dads, doctors, lawyers, teachers, scientists, builders, and many other occupations. I hope they still find time to read, and maybe even use some of the math we learned in fourth grade! I look forward to spending more time with my family, not setting an alarm clock, reading books that are not teaching related, gardening, bike riding, and traveling at times other than fall or spring break. Thanks to this wonderful Ogden Valley community for letting me be a part of your lives. “Black and White will always stand forever….” Julie Ann Vaatuitui What a wonderful way to spend the past 35 years— doing what I love most… teaching! Valley Elementary has been my home since attending kindergarten through sixth grade there as a student and then fortunate enough to return as a teacher as I taught alongside my 2nd-grade teacher, Mrs. Valley Elementary Candy Facer, of whom I teacher Julie Ann adore with all my heart. Teaching at Valley has Vaatuitui. been magical as I was also able to teach my own son Ulumasui and my daughter Maia. Teaching children of former students was such an awesome experience and a great honor. So many amazing memories, as nearly 850 students have entered my classroom to teach me to appreciate the little things and that learning can be the greatest of all joys. Thank you, Valley students, parents, and faculty! As I leave this blessed valley, what I will remember most are all of you who have made my life worth living! Valley Bulldogs, you truly are the best!
