The new organization is at the iiead of an extensive project to help promote the Utah Symphonys activities among the students attending Utahs colleges and universities. It will also serve m advising the Symphony Board, and its music director and conductor, Maurice Abravanel, of the s tu de n ts reactions and suggestions. ALREADY ACTIVE Announcement of the organization of CABUS was made by Wendell J. Asmon, president of the Utah Symphony Board. Although just organized, has already made the community aware of its exisCABUS tence. It has spearheaded the sale of bumper stickers that read, Happy Birthday, Ludwig. in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Beethovens birih, which is being attention. given world-wid- e SYMPHONY WEEK It also lost no time in meeting with Dr. James C. Fletcher, president of the University of Utah, who proclaimed October as Utah Symphony Week on the U. of U. 6-- campus. During the week, members of CABUS will join with members of the University Symphony Debs and operate season ticket booths at three locations on campus. Until we get CABUS in high gear, Asnton said, we are concentrating our principal efforts at the University of Utah. However, we already have representation from our other universities, and we hope to expand as rapidly as we can throughout the state. PRESIDENT NAMED Ronald Horton, a student at the University of Utah and a member of the violin section of the Utah Symphony, has been named president of CABUS. Bill Horsley and Ed Hunter will serve as vice presidents, with Craig Fineshriber, who is a percussionist in the Utah Symphony, as secretary-treasurer. In addition to the officers, 12 members serve on the CABUS board: Richard Chatelain, E. Agren, Janet Grcas-becRichard Hill, Greg Keyes, Douglas Smith, Pamela Taggart, Mara Teuscher, Terrill, Madeline Harry Wirthlin. Judy Work, all of the U. of U and Paul Nielson Pa-me- al k, from BYU.
