Briefs offi- State dais proposed a study and program costing $45.000 which they hope will lead to an effort to wipe out the brine fly menace. A committee was named to work out a proposed program by the end of October and then start a crash attempt to get funds to start the study. Before thellies can be safely eliminated, the insect's life cycle and habits must be clearly understood. Whatever Is done must aim at the adult flies. The larvae are hatched under water, and attempts to poison them might make the lake water dangerous to humans and other life forms using the lake. Lee Jorgensen, Utah Travel Division director, said that another summer without any method of control over the brine flies could spell the end of the lake as a famed tourist attraction. Named to the special study committee were Dr. Donald W. Davis, Utah State University; Dr. Don M. Rees, University of Utah; Jay E. Graham, Salt Lake County MosAbatement District, quito An intruder was caught inside a Phillips 66 Service Station at 13th East and Vine Street early today by two alert deputy sheriffs. Deputy Alvin Casto said he and Deputy Steve Mitchell were checking doors when they stopped at the service station. They noticed the door had been pried open. While Twitchell watched the back of the station, Casto went into the front door and found a man biding under a truck in the service bay. Casto said a drink vending machine was pried open at the station and $5 in change wes taken. A candy vending machine also showed signs of control ,,,,,r.::-,,- Hall, and course cards can be picked up in the Business Building.
