Orioles 3, Royals 1 ..12 Will Salt Price, a Lake area native had some bad, luck at the beginning of the 1969 Fairgrounds Speedway racing season, but lately, hes been just about the hottest thing going. By BRENT CHECKETTS Deseret News Sports Writer No matter which car he drives the rest of this season at the Salt Lake Fairgrounds Speedway, look for Odis Price to finish well up in the money. Fixtures, Pipe, Volves, Fittings, Threadings, Etc. i30 Instead of powering the machine with a Chevy 327 or Ford 289 engine as most Fairgrounds racers do, Price went a big to a heavier engine Everything U.HI.-- 6 l 4 Sun. 9 p.m. IGTCIIUf.VG 4th s. at 7th Waot-3SS-- driver at the Speedway off and on for the past nine years, Ody started the 1969 season driving a B modified car he bought from Ron Dickinson over the winter. A , PLUMBING for the TtLajlhi5 inch Chrysler. The first night out, 340-cub- 450 Ody hit the wall on the No. 1 turn following a heat race and car damage sidelined him for three weeks. No sooner did he get back in action the first night of the Intermountain Championthan misships in mid June fortune struck again. This time Ody smashed through the flagmans barricade and w?s out for another two weeks. Since then, however, things have changed. Odis won the B main events July 4, 5 and 12, hiking his point total to 202 in the process. Thats good enough for third place presently in the B Division. In Pocatello on July 19, he was the seventh fastest qualifier despite the fact that he was running against super modifieds in his B car. But now comes the experiment. Ive always wanted to drive a real hot car In the supe modified (A division) at Odis says. the Speedway, Ive driven in the A division before, but always with a piece of junk.
