The plaque was engraved, To our beloved prophet in grateful appreciation for your inspiring leadership, from the army of the Priesthood serving in Vietnam. We bring the love of all the members of the Church in Vietnam, said Army Lt. Col. Paul Madsen, who was just released as second counselor in the Southern Vietnam District presidency. Making the presentation with Col. Mad- - sen were Navy Capt. L. Kent Payne, who on the high council of the Southern District, and Dr. Desmond Anderson, academic adviser, National Defense Council and National Institute of Administration. He is serving as first counselor to Lt. Col. Joe Me Phie, nresident of the district in Saigon. The meeting was arranged by Eider Ezra Taft Benson of the Council of the Twelve who supervises the Southern Far East Mission of which Vietnam is a part has been serving Thank you so much. I am so glad to see you. Give my love to the men in the service, President McKay said as he received the plaque. On the plaque is an insigna of the armed services and a map of Vietnam. The map is detailed with red dots representing the branches of the Church. A ceramic flag of the United States and Vietnam complete the design on the dark wood background. MIA JUNE CONFERENCE PLEA: Master Art Of Reaching Hearts' leaders from states throughout the Church are Lake City this weekend for annual MIA June Conference. Thousands the 70lh of MIA Master the Art of Reaching Hearts, is the conference theme. In many .of the meetings held during the first three days of the conference, there has been a flavor of the past as MIA officials celebrate the 100th anniversary of the organization of the YWMIA. The Centennial Ball was attended by many thousands, including most of the General Authorities of the Church and many locrl and state government officials. Friday morning a centennial sunrise service in the tabernacle was held for the women. President N. Eldon Tanner, second counselor in the First Presidency, spoke. The movie, Pioneers in Petticoats, was premiered at the sunrise service. In the opening session of the conference the new MIA theme from the Book of Mormon was presented. The theme is found in the eighth chapter of Mormon, verse 22. For the eternal purposes of the Lord shall roll on, until all his promises shall be fulfilled. Elder Siencer W. Kimball and Elder Richard L. Evans, of the Council of the Twelve, spoke at the first session. Youth from Mesa, Ariz. region recreated a 1869 fair during the Parent and Youth general session Friday afernoon. Bishop Robert L. Simpson of the Presiding Bishopic and an adviser to the MIA also spoke in the afternoon session. Colorful and entertaining dance, quartet and drama festivals added to the first three days of the conference. Elder Marion D. In joint executive session Saturday afternoon, the general MIA executives presented The Newness of MIA with vignettes illustrating the newness of several of their ideas. MIA workers not involved in executive sessions met in departmental meetings throughout the city with general board members and discussed new programs to be introduced into next years MIA. Sunday geneial session beginning at 10 a.m. in the tabernacle will be held under the direction of the First Presidency of the Church. President Alvin R. Dyer, counselor in the First Presidency; Elder Harold B. Lee, of the Council of Twelve, and Elder Boyd K. Packer, Assistant to the Tw'elve, are scheduled to speak.
