'f manager of the Foothtill Village Store, was born March 24, 1900, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the eldest child of Wallace C. and Alice Bitner Castleton. Both paternal and maternal grandparents were Mcrmo.n pioneers who came to the Salt Lake Valley between 1849 and 1862. Mr. Castleton began his merchandising career at the age of 15 as a grocery and delivery boy in his uncles general stole. He later traveled as a salesman of drygoods and clothing, operating his own wholesale establishment. In 1938, he oppned his first store in Cedar City, Utah, while still continuing to operate the wholesale business. The second store was opened in Provo, Utah, in 1949. In 1937, the first Salt Iake City store was opened in Foothill Village the fiist suburban shopping center in the aiea. At tins time, Mr. Castleton discontinued his wholesaling interests. Crowth has been steady in the organization wih two more stoics opened in Salt Iiko Cit in 1960 and 1965 and an Ogden, Utah, outlet added in 1965.
