Show Something To Talk About The FAITH Matthew records the story of a certain who brought his son to the Savior to lie healed. Gospel that we preach is the man power of God unto salvation; and the first principle of that Gospel is faith in God and Good Speakers Are Developed By Practice And Use Of Rules faith in Jesus Christ, His Son. Brigham Young Elder Thomas S. Monson, of the Council of the Twelve, tells a story of the faith of the Samoan children which reflects a simple trust and a calm assurance that And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him, the rnan said. Then Jesus answered and said, 0 faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart and said, Why could not we cast him out? At the conclusion of his message, he suggested to the teacher to go forward witli the closing of the exercise. As he announced the final hymn, I suddenly felt compelled to personally greet each of these 247 children. My watch i-- revealed that the time was too short for a privilege, so I discounted the impression. Before the benediction was to be spoken, I again fe't this storng impression to shake the hand of each child. such This time I made the desire known to the instructor, who displayed a broad and beautiful Samoan smile. He spoke in Samoan to the children, and they beamed their approval of his comments. The instructor then revealed to me the reason for his and their joy. When we learned that Presihad dent McKay assigned a member of the Council of the Twelve to visit us in faraway Samoa, I told the children if they would each one earnestly and sincerely pray and exert faith like the Bible accounts of old, that the Apostle would visit our tiny village at Sauniatu, and through their faith, he would be impressed to greet each child with a personal hand clasp. He said Tears could not be restrained as each of those precious boys and girls walked shyly by and whispered softly to us a sweet talofa lava. The gift of faith had been evidenced. And now as I said concerning faith-f- aith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen which are true. Aim And Jesus said until them, because of your unbelief : for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place: and It shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matthew The last verse in the Doctrine and Covenants warns us to keep the command- ments: Be diligent in keeping all my commandments, lest judgments come upon you, and your faith fail you, and your enemies triumph over you. Jl:il 134: Relief Society Filmstrips Great Teaching Aids Film strips, made by members of the Andes Mission Relief Society, are proving to be a tremendous help in aiding LIMA, PERU and teaching the members throughout the mission. The boundaries of the mission range from the Pacific shores of Ecuador and Peru over the towering Andes to the western shore of the giant Amazon River. So Mrs. Esperanza Schwarz, Mission Relief Society president, believed that the way to get the message to branch members, some 1,000 miles away was to provide film strips. At a recent two-daconference four 35 mm color filmstrips accompanied which the sisters by tape recordings made themselves to offer new ideas and methods of completing Relief Society duties, were shown. Mrs. Schwarz spearheaded a series of picture-takin- g days nearly two months in advance of local Relief Society women busy in their callings. Mission Pres. Allen E- Litster called the 200 delegates to support their husbands in their priesthood callings. He reminded them, also, that the mother of the family should not work but stay at home to teach their children, asking them to evaluate themselves to see if they are working for luxury or necessity- tion to the home while Mrs. Schwarz urged more dedication in visiting teaching.
