Show 14 THE OGDEN (UTAH) STANDARD-EXAMINE- S SUNDAY MORNING JULY 30 1950 Seven Sons Serve Their Country - 1 MONDAY BUDGET BUYS Fall Fabric - SILVERMOON COTTON Mrs J C DeHart 3211 Jefferson takes justifiable pride In the fact that seven of her sons have worn or are now wearing the uniform of their country Their pictures arrayed before her show thai all hot one nave oeen or are in me navy me tuner young man is a marine r— New fall prints back-to-scho- —- quality Couple Has Extra Reasons To Hope tor World Peace Wafer Official Lauds Solons As Bill Passes Appreciation was expressed Sat urday by Superintendent David A Scott of the Ogden River Water Users' association for the coopera lion and effective work given by the members of the Utah congres eional delegation in securing pass age by congress of the bill approving the amended repayment con tract of the Ogden river project He pointed out that when the bill is signed by the president it will mark the end of a movement initiated by the association some eight years ago to secure a more lenient setup for the water users and is the culmination of extended negotiations with the bureau of reclamation Before reaching congress the con tract was reviewed and approved by the following government officials: Regional director E O Larson supervisor of operations and maintenance wasnington office chief counsel bureau of reclama tion: Commissioner Michael Straus bureau of reclamation secretary of it tenor Oscar W Chapman and director of the bureau of the budget Mr Scott stated that all of the foregoing officials have by acting on the proposed contract in time for its submission to the congress before the adjournment date and expressed his appreciation to all for their cooperative action The schedule of payments to the government provided for In the old contract was as follows: $75' 265 per year for the first 10 vears $94081 per year for the second 10 years and $103489 per year for ine xast zu years The new contract reduces the an nual payments eliminates the step up feature and extends the repay ment period to a maximum of 68 years The annual instalments will be $66300 until the year 1987 and $aoeuu per year for the remaining years The total obligation covered by the new contract is $3 403500 Six instalments have been paid under the old contract according to Mr Scott No interest is charged by the government for the loan of th money with which the Ogden river project was constructed Fervently praying the present fighting in Korea will not develop into a Third world war are Mr and rs J C DeHart 3211 Jefferson who had six sons in the navy during the last war and would have seven and possibly eight in service if present fighting were to develop into an all-obattle Three are in the service now "We were lucky last time all came back" Mrs DeHart They said "Next time we may not be so ut fortunate" Mrs DeHart said she asked her six sons who were in the navy to go on different ships "I thought at first it would be nice if they could all go together but then I read where five sons in one family all on the same ship had been lost in action I certainly didn't want anything like that to happen to my boys As long as they were in six different places they had six different chances of getting back "I am proud that they all were able to fight for their country but just the same I don't want them to have to do it again "So many people have said that because we have so many sons it wouldn't be quite so bad to lose one They are mistaken I would feel Just as bad about losing a boy as a mother with only one son The number of children does not change the amount of a mother's love" Mr an4 Mrs DeHart were the parents of 12 children 10 boys and two girls Eight boys and one girl are still living I had a then a boy then a girl thengirl nine boys After I had eight boys and knew I was to have another child I began ood ?raZmI &rJa irlup on me though and presented me with twin M£- and Mrs DeHart's sons 35 who has been in navy H years and is now in the the vicinity of China Arie 33 in the navy 16 years and stanow each of -
