Show letter tells of zeppelin raid on british isles vill will am werrett a former resident of tit tintic gintic who is now filling a mis eion sion for the L D S 8 church in eng land ind has sent the reporter a letter which he received from another mis describing a zeppelin raid on the british isles in the letter he carefully conceals the local ty ot of this raid because it is strictly against the law to give out information of th s nature we are publishing below a portion of the letter written to mr werrett and it will no doubt be of intermit inte reit to our readers I 1 had just b n telling one of my friends that thevE the e nil aaser has stopped his war in the ai nd was directing his attention some somewhere ml here else when a heavy report was as heard the con cassion was aas po powerful erful shaking the whole hole house thinking it might be a zeppelin raid or bombardment from the sea I 1 hurried to the door fol lowed by the members of the family with whom I 1 was staying we ave ar rived just in time to hear a second report this one be ng much more ter than the first as the old b rd was as getting closer to us the huge craft of the air seemed to be r over us and as it drew nearer and nearer we ue were so excited that we did not move and all expected the next bomb to be dropped upon us the noise of the mach ne and the ex floding bombs sounded 1 ike be a hun dred trains go ng over a steel bridge it was nias deafening these german hummingbirds sire make an ap awful noise and all around us we vie could hear the people screaming and moan ing policemen running around shouting to the people to put out the lights and ani this soon left the town ton in darkness except for an onal glare of light from the b g death dealing monster of the a r it was not long until th rap d fire of the british guns drove the zeppelin back over the water but the firingos firing of these guns which were ere aimed at the bep chiew the people into another panic as they thought that the noise was made by exploding bombs from the air after it was mas all over I 1 look took a walk alk arkind and found that a vast vas T amount of damage had been done houses were afire windows were shattered and some buildings were completely in the section over which the zeppelin had pashed a woman had been killed and a num ber of leople were seriously injured loday a few hours after the raid the to is in an uproar and one has but to walk around a little to see the large amount of damage which had been boen done on every hand anything I 1 ke the raid of last n brin brings s our church work to a standstill and it will be some I 1 atle time before the recover from the shock it will oe even longer before the damaged b nad ns can be repaired in his letter mr werrett asks to be remembered to h I 1 many tintic gintic friends he lie states that he is gett ing along n cely and thit that he is en jo join ing the best of health |
