Show I t i Centerfield News Jean Christensen Boyd and Patty Christensen have just returned from a week long trip through Wyoming, Montana and down through Colorado to Grand Junction. While in Grand Junction they attended Pattys 20th year class reunion. Trccsa Porter and three children from Preston, Idaho are spending a few days here in the area. She is the daughter of the Boyd Christensens and the granddaughter of Whitney and Mary Christensen. A barbecue was held at the Christensen home on Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Ashman were in Salt Lake Saturday to greet their grandson, Midshipman Clay Christensen, on his return from a six week cruise with the Portuguese Navy. Clay and a midshipman from the Naval Academy in Annapolis were the only Americans aboard. Clay, who speaks both Portuguese and Spanish fluently, said it was great to speak only these languages during the cruise. The ship docked at the Ayorcs, Madeira, and Belguim where the two rented a car and drove to various cities in France, Germany and Holland before returning with the ship to Spain and Lisbon. When he graduates from the U of U in December he will be commissioned an officer in the navy and will report to Pensacola for flight training. A tragic accident occurred just cast of Redmond Monday afternoon. Richfield on Saturday afternoon. Those from Redmond participating included Shelly Jensen, Jennifer Johnson and Jed Willardson. All three of the participants were able to take places and Jennifer and Shelly took first in the test division. A regional Youth Conference was held in Loa Saturday. Eight youth from Redmond and three leaders were able to participate and enjoy the day. A full schedule was planned for everyone including games, workshops, beef barbecue and dance. Kate Black has been a visitor at the Orland Chidestcr home and the Craig Chidcster home. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. UDcll Johnson were Jeans daughter Debbie and four sons. They attended a family reunion in Wales before going to Salt Lake City to visit other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Hansen were here Sunday. They had attended a family reunion in Mayfield. Jackie Hansen stayed to spend some time with Mr. and Mrs. UDell Johnson and her brother is staying in Centerfield with the Norman Jensens. The Hansens also brought Sabin and Shane Johnson home after spending a week with Sue Johnson and Terry Hansen. MattLoftland.sonofDanni and Judy Loftland was killed in a motorcycle accident. Funeral services were held in Fdlmore on Thursday. Many family members were here to be with the family and many friends attended the services in Fillmore. Ben Warren was hurt in the accident, and is in the Payson Hospital. A Horse show was held in 4-- H Kenny and Leslie Nelson are proud parents of a nine pound baby boy. He was bom Saturday at the Gunnison Valley HOspital and will be welcomed home by two brothers, Ryan and Rhett and sister, Kate. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Terrel Nelson, of Redmond, and Mr. and Mrs. Cal Mellor, of Gunnison. During July, Louise Christensen, with her daughters Leona Lewis, Shirley Peterson, and Joy Merriam traveled to Walla Walla, for Louises sister Washington Violas 90th birthday. From Walla Walla, they went to Seattle and on down the coast to Montcga, California to see Louises daughter Wenona. Its nice to have them home. We hope everyone had a wonderful time. His family, Leslie, Heidi, Danny, and Travis were there for the happy reunion. The family then toured England, Wales, France, Austria, Switzerland, Monaco, Italy and Germany. Sheldon and Edna Bjerrc-gaar- d attended the wedding and reception of their granddaughter Natalie Nielson in Orem on THurs-da- y the 28th of July, natalie is the daughter of Clair and Marsha Nielson and married Kenneth D. Jones of Montana. The wedding and reception was held at the Nielson home in Orem. Also, attending the gala affair from mayfield was the Doug and mary Ann Bjerregaard family, Wanda Peterson, Wanda Marie Hatton and Stanford and Jean Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nielsen of Gunnison are also Natalies grandparents. Orlin Hansen of Mayfield celebrated his 93rd birthday on July 19 at his home. His daughter Utahn Sudwccks came from Salt Lake To spend the day. Enid Hansen of Mayfield was in charge of this years reunion. They atc.played games and visited. The Mayfield Cemetery beits gan Perpetual Care Project July 29th and 30th. A group of Mutual youth came form Salt Lake for a work Youth Conference. With the help of some local men there were d, - 528-756- 9 trees dug up and graves filled in and some headstones straightened. The work was done mostly in the top or old part of the Cemetery. It was a good start on the Mayfield Cemetery. Cleo Peterson had a grandson helping on the project from Salt Lake City. Doug Bjerregaard and son Lee along with Eugene Bartholomew and son Ronnie traveled to the Henry Mountains to spot Buffalo and fish Friday and Saturday. Eugene has a Buffalo permit and is getting ready for the big hunt. Lester and Alice Hansen were pleased Sunday to have many visitors at their home. Junior andGlenna Hansen, the Harvey Hansen family, the Brent Hansen family, the Larry Cosby family, the Glade Ludvickson family all of Centerfield all stopped for a visit along with Joye Hansen of Gunnison and Rae Lou Larson and Verda Christiansen of Mayfield. Gordon Anderson suffered a Heart Attack last Thursday. He is in the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. The Bruce and Arlene Bartholomew family are hosts for a 17 year old Japanese girl. Evan and Grace Peterson have been on a vacation to Mesquite, Nevada, Durango, Colorado, and visiting their daughter in Blanding, Utah. They saw a lot of smoke and had to come home out of West Yellowstone instead of through Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The group were gone 4 days. Monday, July 18, Varsity Scouts from Granite 8th Ward in SAndy arrived in Mayfield. They started on their bikes, from Thistle at 6 a.m. and arrived in Mayfield from 2: 15 to 3 p.m. They were tired and hot after relaxing in the shade, they wentover to Palisade fora swim, and to do some fishing. These young men were Ryan Clegg, Aaron Whitehead, Trent Arrington, Jon Trer, Chris Batton, Danny Malmstrom, John Steiner, and Jason Moelle. The young men were accompanied by Bishop Joe Frear, Young Men President Curt Burnett and Varsity Coach Danny Lunt. They stayed overnight at the Earl Michaelson residence in Mayfield. Ryan Clegg is their grandson.
