August 3. 19SS S Aurora News Kathleen Lloyd - V The Lynn and Fern Shaw family reunion was held at the Aurora City park on Saturday where 100 family members were in attendance. The Shaws nine children honored their FAthcr, Lynn on this day to celebrate his 80th birthday which was on Thursday, July 28th. All of their children and their families were in attendance which included: the Devon Shaw family, the Reed Shaw family, the Kendall Shaw family, the Thcrron Shaw family, the Wayland Shaw family, all of Aurora and the Rondo Shaw family, Taylorsville, the Judy Mayer family, West Jordan, Linda Mickclscn family, Redmond and Raclcne Cowley family, Wright Wyoming. Also attending the Dec Nordfclt family from Salina. The families traveled from all over Utah and from California to attend this special day. The Shaws have 46 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren. It was a wonderful birthday party for Lynn and a great family get together. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wanlass arc the very proud parents of their 4th child, an infant son born to them on July 20th at the Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield. The new little tyke tipped the scales at 8 lbs. 6 ozs. and will be named Daniel Frank Wanlass. Little Daniel has three older brothers to help him out in this life and they are Brett, Jeff, and Riley. Proud Grandparents to the new little infant are Mr.and Mrs. Boyd Coates, Milford, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wanlass, Manti. Great Grandparents are Mr. Clair Coates, Gunnison and Mrs. Orpha Whitlock, Mayfield. Herald and Mary Curtis have had a very busy July this year, herald recently was a patient at the Sevier Valley Hospital and he is home doing well. Visiting them recently were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Dailey and family, Salt Lake City. The Daileys two sons, Jacob and Eric visited with their grandparents here in Aurora for a week before returning to Salt Lake City. Also visiting during July were Mrs. J uanna Frisby and Mrs. Sharron Coult and her daughter, Emilce Coult all of Salt Lake City. Marys sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Marlcc Hamblin, Roosevelt were here visiting and they and the Curits traveled to St. George where they visited family members, Mr. and Mrs. Glade Curtis and attended to business. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Kent Freeman and family and Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Curtis and other friends and relatives in our area are Mr.and MRs. VEm Freeman, Mesa, Arizona. 529-345- 3 Ruby Hammond ) Youth from both the Aurora Wards enjoyed attending the regional Youth Conference on Saturday in Loa. They attended workshops throughout the day and fun activities and that evening there was a dinner and dance. Mr.and Mrs. Lamar McBride traveled to Park City where they attended a family reunion with Kris sisters family, The Hcbcr Hardy family. They enjoyed visiting with Kris Father also during the week, Mr. Thomas Smith, Phoenix, Arizona. They attended the wedding of their nephew, Richie Ralph also during the week. On Thursday, July 28th they traveled to the Jordan River Temple to attend the wedding of their niece, Alccia Hardy, daughter of mr.and MRs. HEber Hardy of Fairfax, Virginia. That evening they wen t to Provo to attend their wedding reception held at the Excelsior Hotel in Provo. All of Kris nine brothers and sisters and her father, Mr. Thomas Smith were in attendance to the reception so it was also a great family reunion. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hansen and family is Jerrys mother, Mrs. Ilene Hansen, Wick-enburArizona. Ilene Gull and family were here Friday visiting friends in the area. Mrs. Vilate Lloyd enjoyed spending a few weeks in Evanston, Wyoming visiting her daughter and family, Mr. and MRs. Reese Nicholls. While there she also enjoyed attending the McKinnon family reunion in Randolph, Utah and visiting family members in that area. The Mcrrie Miss A girls in the Aurora 1st ward and their leader, Tammie Harrison went to Gooseberry on Wednesday and enjoyed a cook out. The girls learned fire making skills and cook their own tin foil dinners. Tracie Gillies visited with her parents Doug and Joan Gillies on the weekend. She is employed in Durango, Colorado. Bryan Harvey Glad Bryan Harvey Glad, 32, died Saturday, July 2, 1988 in San Jose, California. He was born December 30, 1955 in Salt Lake City, a son of Harvey Lowell and Aria Jean Bunnell Segmiller Glad. He lived in Magna for 29 years. He had been a journeyman carpenter and industrial insulator, and was a member of the LDS Church. He is survived by his mother and George and Aria Jean SEgmiller; grandmother, Ethel Duffin, Gunnison; one brother and two sisters, Jeffery Glad, Sharon Glad and DcAnn Glad Silvia, all San Jose, California and SandraGardncr, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father. Many relatives joined with them to make the day special. Friday, July the 29, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harrop and Captain and Mrs. Royal Harrop and children enjoyed the day at Capitol Reef National Park. Gunnison News Helen Rasmussen! Lake Powell seems to be one of the most popular vacation places. So many families are enjoying water skiing, boating, living on house boats on camping and fishing. Have you been up in the canyon? The mountains are beautiful everything is so green and flowers are all in bloom, there are lots of deer and they are so tame. We really enjoyed our trip in the canyon last week. Lawrence and Rebecca Anderson have recently moved back intotheirold home. Lawrence asked me to write and thank all of you who The Relief helped them move. Society helped clean cupbroads and wash and move all the dishes. The High Priests also helped with the move. Thanks to all from Lawrence and Rebecca. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schlapher are happy to announce the marriage of their daughter Katina to Eric Christensen son of Rex and Maxine Christensen of Centerfield. The young couple were married Friday July 29, 1988 and will live in Gunnison. Eric is employed at the Moroni Turkey Farm. Mrs. LaVona Bradley, Mrs. Doug Bradley and daughter of Orem went to Cedar City and attended the Shakespearean Festival. Elaine Christensen has had her granddaughter Cortney visiting her fora week. Bruce Hill and grandson Ryan took Elaine and Cortney to St. George to visit for a week. While there they spent a day at Zions Park. They also enjoyed boating on Quail Lake with Michelle Hill another granddaughter. Elaine also got to see her new great grandson, the parents are Ronnie and Sherrie Hill of St. George. They were helping to move Bossies furniture back into her home after the accident at her home. Doreen Anderson has returned from a weeks vacation with her sister, Elnora Hosac of Heywood, CA. Doreen and hersistcr attended Sacrament meeting. Her son Reed, from Little Rock, Arkansas visited for two weeks. Her daughter and husband Aria Jean and George Segmiller, two granddaughters Sharon Glad and DeAnn Silvia and Jen Courtney, her grandson Jeff Glad all from San Jose, CA. They were here for the funeral of Bryan Glad that was held in Provo. Visitors at Camile Nielsons were Bob Nielson from Cedar City, Carol Handing and children Cassie and Kevin from Fillmore. Camilles son in law Kirk Harding was in charge of the clean-u- p of the Chem material between Cove Fort and Fillmore. Shannon Whitlock of Salt Lake City visited with her grandmother Dorta Sorensen during the 24th of July weekend. Joe Haden Frye Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Joe Haden Frye, 74, died July 23, 1988 in a Richfield hospital. Born March 8, 1914 in Noel, Missouri to James Albert and Hannah Irene Parker Frye. He joined the CCC Camps coming to Utah in 1935. HemetMyrleLillianSyddall; they were married December 12, 1936 in Richfield. Worked as a freight manager in Salt Lake and Kanab for 19 years. Member of the Richfield Volunteer Fire Dept, for 40 years. Member of the Richfield Lions Club. He joined the LDS Church in 1957; worked in the scouting program as a merit badge counof a trailer selor. Owner-operatin the for Richfield past 20 park or years. Survived by wife, Richfield; children, Mrs. Allcn(Rita Coy) Gunnison; Mrs. John (Mae Loye) Lowney, Kalispcll, Mont.; Teddy Joe Frye, Kearns; Ronny Dell Frye, West Valley City; Val James Frye, Taylorsville; Shon Dan Frye and Mrs. Kelly (Judy) Stewart, both Richfield; 16 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; mother, Hannah Frye; sister Mrs. William (Stella Mae) Lorensen, both Richfield. Wil-lardso- n, Prominent Gunnison resident passes away Prominent local resident. Bill Nay, 58 of Gunnison, Utah passed away suddenly on the afternoon of July 31, 1988 of cardiac arrest Bill was born in Centerfield, Utah on January 6, 1930, the fourth son of Elonzo and Ethel Simonscn Nay. He was educated in the local schools in Centerfield and Gunnison. He was an outstanding athlete and later an avid sports enthusiast. He married Bonnie Anderson on February 10, 1951, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He served two years in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was ecnerous in his dedication to serving the community. He was a member of tch LDS church and served in several capacities. He was a member of tch JayCees, Volunteer Fire Department, and Lions Club, serving as President. He served in the American Legion both as the Post Commander and District Commander. He was a recipient of the DS A award from the Gunnison JayCccs in 1965 in recognition of his outstanding service to the community. He was currently serving as the President of the Gunnison Fayette Canal Company. Bill Nay to twelve grandchildren to whom his gentle and kind example will remain his enduring legacy. Brothers: Eugene Nay, Gunnison; LcEarl Nay, Murray. Other Survivors include: Hal and Ranae Anderson, Verlyn and Dwaine Burr, Pauline and Kenley Christiansen, Julie and Paul Fjcld-steJohnny and Sherrie Anderson, and Kim and Mary Anderson. All relatives and friends will greatly miss his tender kindness and deep love. He was preceded in death by daughter, Robyn Gertrude. During his years in construction, he built many reservoirs, bridges, roads, and made a visible mark on the landscape in Central and Southern Utah. Survivors include: Wife, Bonnie Anderson Nay; Daughter: Mrs. Brent (Barbara Lynn) Olsen; Three Sons: Dr. Richard B. Nay (Wife Lori), Blake A. Nay (Wife Lori Jan), Ronald E. Nay (Wife Michelle) all of Gunnison. Bill was the loving grandfather and patriarch day, August4, 1988atl:00p.m. The viewing will be held on Wednesday evening August 3, 1988 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and two hours prior to services.
