This is a documentary of the Maritime Archaic culture, the earliest Indian culture of Northeastern North America. They are known as the Red Paint People because of the large amounts of red ocher found in excavations of their sites. These coastal dwelling Indians were located in the far northeast, from Maine to northern Labrador, about 8,000 to 3.500 years ago. The Maritime Arachic culture develop complex burial ceremonials, constructed burial mounds, and produced sophisticated ground and chipped stone tools. The meeting will be held Thursday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at the Bureau of Land Management Office, Richfield. The public is invited to attend. General sessions both days will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mountain Time, and a general priesthood session will be conducted Saturday at 6 p.m. Daylight Savings time goes into effect early Sunday morning, so the first day of conference will be on Standard Time, and the second day on Daylight Savings Time. The general sessions will be broadcast live on KSL-TChannel 5, Salt Lake City, and will also be broadcast live on KSL Radio. A leadership meeting for stake presidents and regional representatives will be held Friday, April 1, at 7 p.m. in the Tabernacle. President Ezra Taft Benson, world leader of the 6.4 million member faith, will preside. The event was held in Monroe. The SunShine Cloggers came home with 2 First place; 4 Second place; and 1 Third place in the Team competition; and 9 First Place in Freestyle. Three of the girls will now move on to the Championship Division. They will compete at Lagoon in May, and qualify to perform at the National Freedom Festival, July 1, 2 in Provo, where teams from all over the country will be competing. All of us have really put in ' some long hours in practicing and said preparing for this competition Mrs. Christensen. Iam proud of all of the girls and their accomplishments.
