Show Accent on People Seafarer retires Couple say vows The sailing of the S.S. Manukal from Oakland recently marked the start of Just another routine voyage in the Hawaii trade for all hands aboard, except Chief Engineer Dee R Laou, who made his last6 trip after nearly 43 yers of seafaring. His career included 30 years on Matson container-shivesels, nearly 15 of which were served aboard the Manu-kaIt was his 190th trip to Hawaii. Lau is the last of the Matson chief engineers who worked their way up orm the unlicensed ranks of the engine department.
