SEVIER Wolves play last two games this week mmmmmmmmmmmm Reading a metropolitan newspaper is like eating meal - you pick and phoose from what's offered But readingyour hometown weekly is like eating a good home-cooke- d m$al - a fellow doesn't want to miss a thing a restaurant Millard came out and demonstrated their dominance in 2A basketball last weekend as they defeated the North Sevier Wolves 65-4- 5 The Wolves did have their shining moments all through the game, and Coach Craig Gladwell said he was pleased with their performance He felt that if they could out-rebou- Millard they would stay with them, and this almost held true At the end of the game the Wolves had rebounded Millard and this effort went a long way in keeping the game a close 37-2- one The game started slow for both teams, and because of second effort the Wovles found themselves down 11-- 8 after the first quarter The second quarter seemed to be the one that North Sevier couldnt control and Millard played their game at their own speed The Wolves fell behind by 15 at the half They like the fast paced game and they built their lead, one we couldnt conquer the rest of the night, Gladwell said During the last half the Wolves pulled to within 10 points several times, but then would lose concentration and break down defen-seivel- y Steve Chnstensen and Brandon Kiesel each finished the game with 9 rebounds Kiesel lead the team with 13 points while Chnstensen and Corbin Partndge each had 11 points Steve Hatch seemed to be the ignitor of the game that evening, and played on a hurt ankle that had kept him from practicing He played during the week smart and attacked the basket and seemed to make things happen, Gladwell said This week the W olves will travel to Delta on Fnday and then host South Sevier in Salina on Saturday These will be the last two Donald Fellows Saugerhes NY i Catskiil Mountain Star- regular season games for the Wolves, with Region and State basketball tournaments the following three weekends FOR VALENTINE DAY Both Delta and South Sevier need a win over North Sevier this week to keep them alive for region, as it has been reported that the lowest team in 2 A region will not attend the tournov th.c year North Sevier has defeated both teams earlier m the year with 1. st second baskets, the pressure will be on the Wolves to perform well Gladwell says the team needs these games as wins to get their momentum and confidence up for the region and state competition Delta and South Sevier both play zone defense Delta is also notorious for full court pressing the entire games, which at times is very distiacting for the Wolves At times we have looked good against zone defense and it is something that we need to see before the tournaments, so these games will be good for us this week, Gladwell reported Wed.
