provide the best possible medical care to region residents A few of the significant milestones last year include: classes specific to EMT training A banquet was held in the evening to honor the EMTs and present continuing education certificates to those EMTs w ho had participated in the conference New Administrator JCAHO Survey Gary Beck assumed his duties as Sevier Valley Hospital administrator Mar He was previously the During the week of June 1 4 Sevier Valley Hospital Home Health and Sevier Valley Hospital was surveyed by the Joint Commission Accreditation of Hospitals Organization This organization reviews hospital policies and procedures operations physician privileging and patient care practices Both the Home Health Department and the hospital received full accreditation for three years This is a very prestigious aw ard and the hospital is proud to have received this honor 1 assistant administrator at Duchesne County Hospital in Roosevelt Utah Gary completed his undergraduate work at Utah State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and received his master's degree in health administration at New Pediatric Room Through a donation from the Ronald McDonald Children's Charities and matching funds from the Tri County Health Foundation a room at the hospital has been renovated for pediatric care The room was dedicated Saturday Brigham Young University He served his internship at St Elizabeth's Medical Center in Dr L Jeffery Chappell Youngstown Ohio Gary and his wife Bobbi Jo have four bovs 1 County Health Foundation Golf Tournament held on Sept 8 Health The tournament was sponsored by the Tri County Foundation in association with Sevier Valley Hospital There was good support throughout the area with local businesses providing sponsorship for the tournament and the local golfers participation in the tournament Proceeds from the tournament will be used for renal dialysis equipment andor other hospital equipment It is planned that the tournament will be held annually Nuclear Medicine Nuclear medicine came to Sevier Valley Hospital during March adding a new realm of diagnostic procedures that enable physicians to better diagnosis and treat patients Tests such as thallium cardiac stress tests lung scans bone scans and gallbladder tests that before required the patient to travel at added expense to facilities on the Wasatch Front are now done on a routine basis at Sevier Valley Hospital Pink Ladies The Sevier Valley Hospital Pink Ladies now down to four volunteers contributed 1500 hours last year to assist the hospital staff and provide comfort to patients g events throughThe Pink Ladies organize several out the year to purchase new equipment for the hospital fund a nursing scholarship and operate their services During the past year they bought two pieces of surgical equipment and a chair for the birthing room They also provide caps and shirts for new babies puppets for children tray favors on holidays and stuffed toys for child patients The Pink Ladies run the Hospital Gift Shop and with the nurses the first baby of the year program The Pink Ladies need more volunteers Interested persons coordinated the Annual Health Fair held at Sevier Valley Hospital May There were 23 booths set up with displays both inside and outside the hospital offering various health information living care and served at tables arranged on the front lawn Several physicians and the hospital administrator barbecued turkey steaks donated by the Moroni Turkey Plant and drinks were furnished by Richfield Coca Cola or Jamie Robinson president of the Tri County Health Foundation was committee chairman for the First Annual Tri 1 m y EMT Conference LaNeeta Sudweeks RN director of nursing at Sevier Valley Hospital coordinated the Annual EMT Conference for Wayne Piute and Sevier counties EMTs held at Days Inn July 31 The conference consisted of given throughout the day by Sevier Valley Hospital Medical Staff as well as the director of Life Flight and other trauma specialists Classes included patient assessment triage expectations of physician for EMTs in the field radio communication as well as with the conversion of the facility's north wing into the d New Freedom Care Unit This unit was designed to meet the needs of Alzheimer’s patients and those with related problems of dementia Programs
