Ana-nett- commented Mrs. Hazel White of Ephraim. 1 really enjoy it when they return home to visit and I can spoil them a little with their favorite foods. Hazel's kitchen is, indeed, the heart of her home. Its large, sunny and comfortable. Off to the back of her newly remodeled, modern kitchen is a smaller kitchen, complete with an old cook stove, which Hazel still uses. she says, its Because, not only fun to cook on it, but some dishes just cant be baked right without it. The cook stove is complete with an old pancake grill which was made by Hazels greatgrandfather and some muffin tins which cant even be used in an electric range. The Whites home has a touch, delightful, throughout, and was one of the first homes to be built in Ephraim. Jack has remodeled a lot of it, but the original fireplace is still in the living room. Hazels grandmother Lunds and her mothers Danish dumplings are two jelly-rol- l favorites with the Whites and will become favorites with your family when you try these delicious recipes. Hazels Grandmother Lund's Jelly-Roeggs, separated and at room temperature 4 Tbsp. boiling water V cup sugar 1 (scant) cup sifted flour dash of salt 1 rounded tsp. baking powder ll 5 tsp. vanilla Beat egg whites until really stiff. Beat egg yolks until quite stiff. Beat together the water, sugar and salt. Then add the flour and the baking powder. Add this mixture to the egg yolk mixture, plus the vanilla. Beat well. Fold in the beaten egg whites. Bake on a cookie sheet which has been greased and floured. Wax paper may be cut to fit the cookie sheet for easier removal. Bake at 325 degrees for at least 20 minutes. Cool in pan for a few minutes, then it will slip out easier. Roll in a dishcloth or in paper towels and cool completely. Edges will be hard, so cut them off before 1 rolling so they wont crack. Unroll when cool and fill with desired filling. (Some fillings that can be used are whipped cream and sliced bananas, jelly, chocolate pudding mixed with whipped cream and unflavored gelatin, so it will hold together better, ice cream.) Danish Dumplings Melt 1 square of margarine or butter. Add 4 Tbsp. flour. Stir until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan. Add enough milk so it stirs in well. Do not add too much milk or it will be too thin. Let cool. Add 1 large egg or 2 small eggs, a dash of nutmeg, a pinch of sugar. Beat really well. Spoon into hot soup. Let cook with the lid off for about 10 minutes on simmer. (Low heat or the dumplings will cook into pieces.) These dumplings are especially good in homemade chicken vegetable soup. To make this cut up a stewing chicken. Boil it in water with onion and celery until done. Add carrots, potatoes and any other desired vegetables. Cook until done (about 45 minutes). Add dumplings and simmer for 10 minutes more. Will Wed David Edwards Bonnie and David E. be married Friday, March 25, in the Manti LDS Temple.
