The hunger strike started June 4 when the 19 decided to press for 11 demands. Two of the ringleaders. Lico Valdez and Dennis Baker, have been transferred to the Weber and Davis County Jails, respectively, as a result of the strike. The action appeared to ease the situation, Mr. Hatch said. The demands included some which are impossible under present facilities and funding, but all are available to those in maximum security who care to wort? their way into medium or minimum security, the prison officer said.
