MEADE, Maryland — Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James reflected on her first year as the After-hours fitness for active-duty military service's secretary answering questions directly from Airmen all over the world in an online town hall-style forum here Dec 16. The secretary announced the Air Force will not conduct involuntary force management programs in fiscal year 2015, saying fiscal year 2014 force shaping measures were successful, but "enough is enough." James opened the town hall thanking Airmen for their service and led into her top three priorities: taking care of people, balancing the readiness needs of today with the modernization needs of tomorrow and making every dollar count. The rebalance to the Pacific, the Air Force nuclear enterprise, enlisted performance reports, budget and force man- Camera crew at Hill wins international film awards By DANA RIMINGTON H Hilltop Times correspondent ILL AIR FORCE BASE — Somewhat obscured on base lies a film and documentary production studio, wielding the talents of those who have worked in the private sector, including Hollywood, then joined the Department of Defense to produce videos for the Air Force. The Operating Location - H, the Air Force Public Affairs Agency and sports a roomful of awards in its front entryway. Director of Operations Jim Sorensen said it is most likely the largest facility doing such work in the Department of Defense. U.S. Air Force Air Force Public Affairs Agency Operating Location-H recently received the social category award for "The Preservation of the Force and Family Resiliency" at the the International Defense Film Festival. Though its videos are on par with Hollywood standards, Sorensen says what sets his agency apart is the message. "We have to be sensitive to the special Air Force messaging with our Air Force senior leadership," said Sorensen, who worked for many years at Osmond Studios. The team currently consists of just over 30 employees, including producer and director Adam White, who spent many years working in Hollywood, producing film. When White joined the video team at Hill Air Force Base several years ago, he was shocked. "I had no idea what they were doing here and the caliber of the work they do," White said. "It's almost like we are a hidden fact." The group has been making videos for over 40 years. Its most recent recognition was See CAMERA I Page 6 WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio 4 For some, the holidays come and go crazy fast with Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Year's. For others it doesn't go by fast enough. They find no fun at the office holiday parties rife with games others consider to be the highlight of the party. While they might just be introverts, they may also be depressed. "Depression can take [on] a number of different forms," said Capt. Kristen Redd, clinical social worker and acting director of psychological health. "It varies in terms of intensity, frequency and duration of symptoms." She said, "The common threads among depressive disorders include a sad, irritable or empty mood in addition to somatic and cognitive changes that [can] impair a person's functioning on the job, in relationships and a variety of other ways." It's not important that coworkers be psychologists or psychiatrists. It's only important that they be a Wingman. Sometimes, a person will be assigned to be another's Wingman. At other times, a coworker will seek you out and feel comfortable talking with you. When that happens, listen and observe. It could be the beginning of a wonderful friendship, and/or they may just want someone to talk to. Sometimes the holidays bring out the melancholy in individuals. While many become excited about visits with friends or big family gatherings, others are separated (geo- See REACH I Page 6 Schedule change for museum Starting next year, the Hill Aerospace Museum's operating schedule will change. Currently, the Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday; however, starting Jan. 5, it will be open Monday through Saturday.
