DJ James Derrick will host dancing until the ball drops at midnight. Prizes and giveaways will occur throughout the evening. Hors d'oeurves, from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m., will include roast beef and turkey carving station, jalapeno poppers, deviled eggs, cheese and vegetable trays. A breakfast buffet will begin just after the midnight toast, and will include scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, french toast, sausage and bacon. Club members pay $40 per couple and $20 per individual. Nonmembers are $45 per couple and $25 per individual. Call to make your reservation now! Financial lunch and learns include lunch Lunch and learn classes at the Airman and Family Readiness Center are provided by Wells Fargo. All classes will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Building 150. Lunch is provided free by Wells Fargo for all who RSVP no later than three business days prior to class. Mark Davidson, Executive Director-Mountain West Region, with Operation Homefront states that the purpose is to have a "fun morale event to try and help military families get through the holidays and have a fun event for the kids." Christmas music filled the air and activities were everywhere and included numerous holiday crafts, a magic show, a cake walk, and a seat with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Card contest brings out creativity BY MARY LOU GORNY Hilltop Times editor H ill AFB units and squadrons assembled holiday cards and mounted them along the South Gate Avenue just as winter hit the Top of Utah. Winter hit and holiday cards were festooned with snow, motorists were greeted by holiday Back country skiing yurt trip, Feb. 14 Outdoor Recreation Tickets and Travel is partnering with Weber State University for a trip of endless vertical skiing and three nights in a yurt. Bloomington Canyon's ski and split board terrain has been praised by many and the back country yurt is a great way to access and experience it. The yurt sleeps up to 12 participants and is fully equipped with a large wood stove to keep occupants warm, and cooking equipment and bunk beds. This trip is for participants with some back country telemark, AT or split board experience. Participants will be required to have avalanche equipment (ORTT has such equipment for rent). The yurt sits at an elevation of 7,619 feet above sea level and is seven miles from the Bloomington Canyon trailhead. From the trailhead it is a 1,600 foot vertical gain to the yurt. Participants need to be in good physical condition. Cost is $50. Maximum number of participants is six. Minimum age is 18 years of age. For information, call 801777-9666. Mandatory pre-trip meeting is Feb. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Outdoor Program (Annex 9). The Landing Super Bowl celebration On Feb. 2, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., the big game will be the focus with food, beverages and fun. The Bud Girls will be cheering the teams. James provided testimony to the Senate Armed Services Committee Sept. 19, before the full Senate voted on her confirmation. Now the president must appoint her before she can assume her new position. "I view this opportunity as the privilege and an honor of a lifetime. I will work very hard to ensure that I live up to what is an enormous amount of trust that may be placed in me," said James during her confirmation hearing. "My goal would be to leave our Air Force some years from now on a path toward greater capability and better affordability for our taxpayers, and with the people who underpin everything who are second to none."
