Show 8 TIM ES H 2013 HILLTOP TIME c DAY From page 7 of Fame inductees and their family members. Johnson began talking about Day by telling everyone he had no doubt that she had talent, determination and dedication to the job which helped her set the foundation in place for the organization known today as DLA Aviation Procurement Operations at Ogden. "At the tactical level, her work established DLA Aviation at Ogden as a leader in productivity and Ogden is still there today. Throughout the Air Force, when people think of DLA Ogden they know the warfighter's needs will be met and Pam ... we can tie that reputation directly to you," the general said. Johnson said the DLA Aviation Hall of Fame was established to honor those who have made a long-lasting impact on the Aviation workforce, DLA Aviation military customers and its cornmunities. "Knowing how and why we evolved into the organization we are today helps us make better decisions as we face new challenges. We need to know where we were, so we can understand where we are going and having a chance to recognize one of the pioneers of our DLA Aviation evolution helps bring that history to life. Most important, I think it highlights the fact that by employees' working hard and figuring out how to get the mission accomplished, (this) can and often does, have a lasting effect that far exceeds what we ever imagined was possible. My guess is that Pam never envisioned the DLA enterprise we have today, but through her work, she helped build it," Johnson said. When Day took the microphone, she spoke about her appreciation of DLA Aviation. "What an honor to be a part of this with you," Day said. "I'm very, very honored. To all of you, to all of my friends here at DLA, I thank all of you. I thank you for corning. I believe all of our friends out at Ogden (the ceremony was web streamed to all DLA Aviation Forward Sites) are out there somewhere and I say to you that I wish I was there and I wish you were all here. All of those wonderful things said about me (in the nomination packet) weren't about me, they were about all of you in this room and all of you in Ogden. I was just there to cheer-lead you along the way," Day said. She said throughout her career she asked herself many times if what she did really mattered. "Was it really worth putting parts on shelves, fixing aircraft? Was it really COMMISSARIES From page 7 Through Sept. 15, stateside commissaries will display Ocean Spray products from cranberry, grapefruit, diet and light cranberry, sparkling multipacks and the new cranberry lemonade. PAMELA DAY, former DLA of Ogden director, at ceremony worth it? As time progressed over her 39 years of civilian service, Day said she began to realize just how important working for DLA Aviation really was and what a difference the employees really make.
