Heritage Luau May 17, 5K Fun Run on May 16 With the theme of "Striving for Excellence in Leadership, Diversity and Inclusion," events will be held including a Heritage Luau on May 17, and a fun run on May 16 at 7 a.m. at the fitness center. Donations will be accepted from any contributors on Friday, May 4 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Clothes, furniture and other items that are collecting dust, taking up space or are no longer needed are appreciated to support this good cause. The event will be held Saturday, May 5, from 7 a.m. to noon at 2031 N. 2150 East in Layton. Volunteers sought for Hill Half Marathon The Hill Half Marathon will be held May 12 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Approximately 40 volunteers will be needed for such duties as manning aid stations, crossing guards, set up and registration, time recorders and timekeepers and a clean-up crew. Officials announced the Senate confirmation of Maj. Gen. Andrew E. Busch, commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base, to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment to the position of AFMC vice commander at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Mother of murdered Marine addresses Hill SAAM luncheon BY KRISTA STARKER Hilltop Times correspondent T he annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month luncheon was held Thursday, April 26, at The Landing. The speaker this year was Mary Lauterbach, the mother of a Marine who was murdered in 2007. Lauterbach's talk focused on the story of her daughter's death and what changes could help save others' lives. She opened her talk by stating that she was not here to demean the Marines or any military branch but to share her daughter's story. practice has evolved since then and President Barack Obama declared a week in May as National Police Week in accordance with this longstanding tradition.
