DERBY From page 7 Cherokee Johnson, director of the youth summer program, said the base hosts "minicamps" for the children in the program, during which specialists come to the base and teach a new or interesting skill. "This is part of our fitness portion of the program," Johnson said. "We are trying to show our kids that there are all kinds of different ways they can get out and get moving and be healthy." Derby Girl Theresa Ferrone said that, although Friday's match was an exhibition, the girls still left everything they had on the rink. "We take it serious and try to play like warriors," she said. "Hopefully, we can inspire one of these kids here to try something different." The Salt City Derby Girls league is an all-women's roller derby league based in Salt Lake County.
