Defense Logistics Agency personnel worked to corral the group and get them situated away from the busy Wardleigh Road traffic nearby. Staff Sgt. Brad Maney releases the ducks near the Base Cabin. BY JOSEPH D'ARCO AND DAN THOMASON 635th SCOW/NSF and 635th employee 0 a t We bs ter Un ivers it _ A n Aug. 1, a mother duck and three ducklings were discovered in the asphalt parking lot near Building 845 Bay F. Several of the Air Force Global Logistics Support Center unit personnel assigned to Hill Air Force Base tried to call Davis County Animal Control and the base veterinarian, only to be told that they could not respond in this situation. Wardleigh Road is a main route available for travel east and west near that site and the mother duck and her three tiny offspring were headed for disaster as they approached the very busy thoroughfare. Due to the combined efforts of military, Air Force and Defense Logistics Agency civilians, they were removed from poten- tial dangerous situation. The mission of the AFGLSC unit at Hill AFB under the direction of the 635th Supply Chain Operation Wing (at Scott AFB), is to provide world-class, global logistics support for five Air Force weapons systems, a serious national responsibility. But on this particular muggy afternoon many of the personnel felt compelled to bring things back to nature and took a moment to secure a feathered family's future. The ducks were spotted in the late afternoon, running frantically around delivery trucks, departing cars, and were fast approaching the busy Wardleigh roadway. Once personnel realized there were actually ducks in the parking lot, everyone herded them into a cardboard box for eventual release to the wildlife pond behind the Base Cabin. Of particular mention in this rescue were Lori Imes of DLA, Master Sgt. Christopher Schultz, Staff Sgt Brad Maney and Nikisha Rounkles who stepped up and prevented possible harm to this little family and motorists. ai Posters and Banners vww.accucolor.biz 801.779.2420 1020 W 300 N Clearfield (Next to Winegars) win ra dua te de " ree p ro " rams A Leader in Military Education King Contest August 18, 8-10pm Contest begins at 8:30pm Master of Business Administration (MBA) Master of Arts (MA) - Human Resources Management Information Technology Management Management and Leadership Procurement and Acquisitions Management Online options available!
