For complete details and a list of available retraining, contact your local commander support staff. >•)- Contractor ID change In an effort to streamline base security, leadership at Hill AFB has standardized contractor identification. After Oct. 1, the AFMC Form 387 or Air Force Materiel Command Identification Credential, will no longer be accepted as a valid form of ID for entry onto Hill AFB. To make this transition period less trying, the 75th Security Forces Squadron Pass and Registration will provide affected unit security managers a listing of contractor personnel currently using the AFMC Form 387. Those individuals annotated on the list will be validated and given the opportunity for an across-the-counter exchange until Nov. 1. After that time, the remaining cardholders and those not on the list will have to request a new ID via AFMC Form 496, Application for AFMC Identification Card, through his/ her respective security office. + Summer Bash event Celebrate the Air Force's 60th Birthday with a picnic and concert in the park from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 25. Educators Mutual Apple Trees have been set up at the Layton Hills Mall, Salt Lake area DownEast Outfitters and Salt Lake Staples locations. In addition, Apple Trees have been set up in the lobbies of FM100 and Educators Mutual. "Back-to-school time is particularly challenging for children living in the Road Home shelter and affordable housing," said Christie Hawkes, vice FOXBORO NORTH TIMES August 9, 2007 president of corporate communications, Educators Mutual. "We created the Apple Tree campaign to provide a convenient way for the public to help these deserving children. It is our hope that we will be able to help ease the burden and anxiety by providing muchneeded clothing and school supplies." The campaign runs through Aug. 19. •> Tips for using TRICARE For family members covered by both a TRICARE plan and other health insurance (OHI), knowing how to use the two together will help ensure that claims are processed quickly and correctly. TRICARE, in most cases, will pay second to the OHI. However, TRICARE is the primary payer for beneficiaries entitled to a public program such as Medicaid, the Indian Health Service or those with TRICARE supplementary coverage. TRICARE beneficiaries with OHI who are unsure of how the two plans relate should visit the TRICARE Web site (www.tricare.mil/OHI) or contact TriWest Healthcare Alliance, TRICARE's West Region contractor, at 1-888-TRIWEST (874-9378). + 649th conducts inventory The 649th Munitions Squadron will be conducting a 100 percent inventory of the base and STAMP stockpiles (account numbers FV2027 and FV2304) from Sept. 3 to Sept. 30. FRV coverage will apply to personal property shipments with a pickup date on or after: • Oct. 1 for shipments to or from overseas locations • Nov. 1 for shipments within the continental United States • March 1, 2008, for non-temporary storage shipments, local moves and direct procurement method shipments. Providing prompt notice of loss and damage will still be an essential part of the process. The customer must submit the DD Form 1840, listing all damage discovered at delivery, or the DD Form 1840R, listing all damage discovered after delivery to the carrier, within 75 days. The carrier then has the right to inspect the damaged items once the notice forms are received. There is no additional cost to the customer for FRV coverage, but the claim must be filed directly with the carrier within nine months of delivery by using the DD Form 1844 to receive FRV. The carrier will settle the claim by repairing or paying to repair damaged items and pay the FRV on items that need replacing or have been lost or destroyed. If the earlier denies the customer's full claim, makes an offer on the claim that is not acceptable or does not respond within 30 days, the customer may transfer the claim to the military claims office. If a a claim is filed after nine months, but before the two year time limit, the carrier is only liable for depreciated value of lost or damaged items. The Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command has published a detailed set of guidelines that governs FRV coverage on its Web site. Customers can find the Web site at www.sddc. army.mil click "Full Replacement Value Protection." Also, more FRV information can be found on the various Military Claims Offices' Web pages.
