"I'd never seen anything like that before," said Col. Scott D. Chambers, 75th Air Base Wing commander, remembering last year's event. "The outpouring of support from this community is unlike any 1 have experienced in my Air Force career," said Colonel Chambers. This is the seventh such picnic the MAC has organized for the base since 2001, and the event has grown each time. Many local vendors provide free food and entertainment for young and old alike. Local dignitaries also take this time to come onto the base and thank Airmen personally for their work in their nation's defense. Food will be continuously served until 6 p.m. with the event ending at 7 p.m. Volunteers are still needed to make the event a success. Contact Tech. Sgt. Delbert Schoonover atdelbert.schoonover@hill.af.mil to volunteer. Military personnel should contact their first sergeant if they plan to attend.
