"They take an idea and create something pretty cool." Not only is it rewarding to have a nicer place to work, but many employees take satisfaction in knowing that they did it themselves. "A lot of the motivation has to do with pride," he said. Because of all the hard work employees put into their projects, the center recognizes those who have made extraordinary improvements, through the Self Help Achievement Recognition Program. "A lot of quality jobs come out of selfhelp," Sergeant Rios said. "This program recognizes people who have gone above and beyond what is expected of them." Any office that is particularly proud of their finished project is encouraged to show off their work and self-nominate themselves for SHARP. Projects are evaluated on quality, ingenuity, scope of project and presentation — as in before, during and after photos. Those with projects that are especially high-quality will be featured in the Hilltop Times. For more information about either starting a project or being recognized for a great finished one, contact the Self-Help Center at Ext. 7-1244 or 7-1238 or visit Bldg. 820 bay C, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m..to 3 p.m. Take me to your reader.
