| Show city council met saturday evening to hear protests against proposed sewer there are a few protests the city council met last saturday evening for the purpose 0 of hear ing protests against the proposed sewer improvements some pro tests were presented by the resi rest dents of upper main street but there was as not a protest from anyone in the business district of the camp and the property owners upon church street aie ale unanimously in n favor of putting in a sewer for the entire length of that street A large proportion of the property owners upon upper main alain street that is those owning property between the schlecht store and the D J sullivan corner protested against the sewer improvements there was not a sufficient number of protests to defeat the prop position and if the city council see fit they can proceed with the work ex tending the senn sewer er to the D J sulli van corner as originally planned but inasmuch as the people upon the up per end of the street have I 1 ro tested against the improvement it is more than likely that the main street sewer will reach only to the corner near ts bakery the church street sewer will extend the entire distance of the street the installation of a sewer aseer system upon main ind and church streets will be the first step toward to ard placing this camp in line with other progressive communities in the first place a sewer sa stem means better sanitation and consequently a more healthy ton town n in the second place it means better and more modern buildings the city officials who have been at w rk upon the matter for some time are ar to be congratulated for starting the ball moving in the right direction and the property owners in 1 the h e sewer district have shown their public spirit edness by allowing the matter to go through without protest |
