Show death of rev father rev father 0 donohue for 0 V 1 I 1 nearly twenty three years rec ator tor of the catholic church in S i t this city died last saturday at T y park city at the home of his X T j f it nei neice cc mrs airs dan T S father 0 donohue was v as born in county langbord Lang tord ireland 56 years ago he ile was ordained for the utah diocese in 1882 and spent a few years as as distant rector of the st marys oath cath edral at salt lake and was then as signed to park city lie ile came to eureka in 1886 and took charge of the st patrick s church remaining his life had been spent among the people of this city a generation had grown up dui dining ing the time he lie had re sided here this th is city was hie his home and when he departed he be left many people and many things aich were dear to him lie ile was of a retiring disposition firm in his religious beliefs but char bitable regarding the lew leu s ol 01 others and as a result no had bad many friends outside of his own church lie ile was not an orator of great ability but his sermons were full of pure pare logic t Ical advise and simple piety beautiful and impressive funeral services were held at the st marys cathedral at S lit alt lake at 10 0 clock 1 01 I 1 IVA ile 0 here until a few months igo when he was forced to give up his work worl on account of failing health for sever al months before father 0 donohue gave up his work here and went A ent to live with mrs Ale polin at park city he suffered a great deal from asthma and heart trouble but he lie had an 11 in terest in the welfare of hia his pa farishon rishon ers and refused to cease his labor among them until it was absolutely necessary when he be left eureka alast last september knowing that he might never return the parting caused him to buffer suffer more than any bodily infirmities but only his most intimate friends realized what he suffered the best part of yesterday morning over oer one hund dred of the parishioners of the cath olic church in this city went to salt lake for the funeral a special train being operated for their conven bence |
