Show Oi CULSL t J Ui'i COLLECTIONS Serials Order I Division Marriott Library University of Utah UT 84112 Salt Lake City VOl 1 NO 37 WEDNESDAY ’YOUR HOMETOWN NEWSPAPER" JUNE 13 1984 Police make drug arrests On June 4 Department 1984 the Grantsville City Police made a drug bust at 152 West in Grantsville After obtaining Street a search warrant they proceeded to the address where they found scales marijuana and two boxes of drug related paraphenalia Charles Anderson 26 was arrested for selling a controlled substance which is a felony His wife Debbie 25 was arrested for illegal possession of a controlled substance which is a misdemeanor Also arrested were Markus Nolden and William Manchester both of Tooele for Main illegal possession The City police force is aware of other drug related activities in the city and they are being kept under surveillance Other arrests may be made soon Public shows no interest in city budget THE SOUTH WILLOW PIPELINE is finally flowing clear and fast Above Garrin Johnson removes one of the pipline's caps that was broken Lloyd Pack observes The pipeline had become jammed with some black plastic rocks The irrigation company and even a shovel has spent hundreds of hours keeping this year's irrigation water flowing The pipeline was built in the early 1900's and is only one foot wide and two feet deep Yet one farmer said it used to bring five streams into Grantsville The pipline will still be used with the new dam and water project Even though there was a dozen or so visitors at City Council last week there were no comments offered by anyone during the public hearing for the City budget The proposed budget will increase the city expenditures by about overall for 1984-8- 5 Fire chief Butch Barton presented his budget requests for the fire department Besides the normal equipment and supplies the chief asked for a new 4x4 one ton truck Attorney Elton said that the county had expressed interest in stationing one of their 4x4 brush trucks in Grantsville If that happens the city would 5 SEE CITY COUNCIL PAGE 2 |
