Show Church News Group gives $6 millionto Lutheran New Pilgrim Baptist Church celebrates institutions; 16,000 to benefit 67th anniversary | News USA Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) provided nearly $6 million in scholarships and grants to Lutheran schools and institutions in the past year, directly benefiting more than 16,000 people nationwide. | This is oneof the many ways AAL, the nation’s leading fraternal benefit society, provides a wide variety of benefits to Lutherans and their families. _ According to Fred Pahl, assistant vice president of church and education benefits, ““AAL recognizes the value in supporting education and related institutions. By supporting secondary, technical, and higher education, AAL can make an impact and play a role in training the leaders of tomorrow within the church and community.”’ | AAL, based in Appleton, Wisconsin, has one of the nation’s largest privately funded scholarship programs. Since 1939, the organization has awarded more than 22,000 scholarships totaling more than $30 million to its members. In 1989, AAL awarded $1.8 million in scholarships to 1,954 individuals. These funds were distributed through three major scholarship programs. The programs are AAL’s All-College Scholarship Program, the Vocational/Technical School Scholarship Program, and the Lutheran Campus Scholarship Program. In 1989, AAL awarded $4.1 million through special grant programs to benefit the following: Lutheran high schools, colleges, universities, Bible institutes, 1.5 million members includes life, health, retirement, and disability income products. Other benefits featured are a broad range of self-help programs and volunteer opportunities to help individuals, organizations, and communities nationwide.
