Using specifications from the Boy Scout Manual, the racers shared homemade cars. Each of the ten contestants competed in three heats. The lowest time was discarded, and the remaining two were averaged. The results follow. Certificates were awarded at the 9:00 a.m. mass held Sunday, June 22, at the church. Father Cummins was The annual Father’s Day Soapbox Derby, which has become an annual event, hosts competitors ages 7 to 11, and 11 to 14. All youth are welcome to join this event. Parents and children must build their cars meeting established guidelines and specifications. Please call Father Charles Cummins at 7455673 for more information about next year’s derby. Something New at the Old General Store By Shanna Francis Ogden Valley News Management of the Eden General Store recently changed hands. The Toone family has leased the store and restaurant out to Bruce Nelson and his son Edward. Nelson states that the restaurant business is a new endeavor for him, a retired engineer. New menu items include pizza and hamburgers, along with weekly specials. Catering to sport and recreation enthusiasts enjoying the Eden Park, soft ice cream and ice cream sundaes will also be offered, along with a variety of soft drinks. The owner states that they also soon hope to offer a breakfast menu featuring a breakfast buffet. The retail business is offering a new selection of items too, such as camping and fishing supplies, and southwestern jewelry. The Nelson family is from Saratoga Springs, Utah, but plan to make the Valley their home in the near future.
